beam to a-arm conversion
« on: February 08, 2010, 10:34:02 PM »
I just converted another beam buggy to long travel a-arm! this time for a friend here in my garage. the front suspension cradle is the same as I use in the mini's and my v-6 but pretty universal if you have to time to bleed it in. here are few pics for all but especially for those looking for some idea's to soften up there beam buggy's! the first pic is of myself and ( deano ) the owner of this last conversion in shane ( our transaxle builders) rail, that was the last one I converted personally last year. dean was throwing a bbq party so I drove and hour and a half just to eat his food! the next few may not be in order so use your imaginations.  ;D

he went from 8" hard inches to 24" smooth ones with 26" ground clearance at full droop. the front end does have 1/16" total toe in through a 24" stroke and does produce a 2 degree camber arc with the unequal length a-arms ( upper 1.5" shorter ) and last but not least set at 10 degrees caster.

That looks great!

There have been times when I wish I had 8 hard inches, but never in a buggy. I know, I had to go there.  rofl

Just had to start the snow blower today after a month of it sitting idle.

Hey DS, The best part of that conversion is the welding on the uprights, The weld inserts, and the mirror clamps that you still need to put back on!!!
