What range do you have on a cylinder of pro? Our forklift is out every time I turn around.

I guess overheating probably isn't a problem on the sleds!

Does the diff box have neutral? reverse? The four strokes can't be started backwards for reverse can they?

That is a neat looking propane cylinder, are they readily available?  I don't see one on the buggy.  Up front?  What is the capacity on the cylinders he runs?  Do you use a nurse tank to fill at the dunes/drifts?

Diff box has neutral and reverse, as well as a high and low

The valve actuation would be a bit funny on a fourstroke if you ran it backwards....  ;D

The propane cylinders are manufactured by my brother and his partner's company, they come in the kit with the sled systems. I don't know off hand the exact capacity, but the range is about 150 miles with aggressive riding on three tanks.

The cylinder in his car is just behind the seats and if I remember right is a 43.5 lb aluminum forklift tank.  He can run almost a full day on it.

He and my dad (propane powered subaru car see below) both carry 500lb "nursing/fill" tanks in the bed's of their trucks when we go to the sand.

SWEET!!  Very nice looking cars.  Setup sounds good.  No big hassles once your setup for the propane.  Thanks for answering my questions.  I have one more.  Are the propane carbs (or whatever their called) are they affected by the bumping, and jolting, and angles, and attitiudes in the dunes?  Some people claim they can set carbs up for the dunes, but I've never seen one run like fuel injection.  So I wondered if the propane had any of the carburation issues or not.

Thanks.

See Fabr.....  It's good to ask questions. :t

Propane "carbs" are not position sensitive.

Fabr nailed that one.  I've tried time and time again to get the cars to stumble/hesitate/bog and once they are dialed in (no magic bullet here, you still have to nail the AFR/idle) they are in my mind just as crisp as fuel injection.

The carb works with a diaphram which operates based on pressure.  In most cases altitude changes don't affect the way it fuels.  We have needed to make some minor adjustments when dropping to sea-level type elevation, but we haven't seen a need for much adjustment when climbing in altitude, the sleds are often above 10,000 ft.
