I think they look cool also but I'm a little doubtful if any sanctioning bodies approve though. I'm not trying to say they aren't strong enough or anything but I've got my concerns about possible sunlight and chemical problems.

I could care less about what any sanctioning bodies say about anything I've built, or am building.
Thank God I can build whatever the hell I want, without having to jump through hoops to satisfy some BS standard. I drove that buggy 3 years like that, and never even so much as had to tighten the straps.
Not that I ever rolled it, but I'm sure they would be fine even in a roll. Also having them strapped allows them to give in an impact vs. tearing a hole in the tank when a mounting tab tears off.

Cool down Rick. Its all good bubba. He was just giving his opinion on it. Ive seen your buggy several times and i think it is a sharp buggy. Hes just trying to think of saftey first is all. Its hard to judge anything from just pictures alone, so no one but you really knows how safe they are. Ive seen those very straps hold a load of 40000 pounds of pipe on a flatbed all the way across the united states. I just thought your use of them was pretty cool. So everyone chill. As Bug says, lets not make this a shit slinging contest. ;D

I'm really not that hot, What pushed my button was the part about satisfying sanctioning bodies.
I've been designing and building automotive assembly equipment for almost 30 years. I know all about building to someone else's standard.
The nice part about building my own stuff is I can do it my way. If it fails it's on me, but I like to think I've been doing this long enough to know what will work and what wont.
Seriously, I was not offended at all. I just come off the wrong way,...A LOT!

I only mentioned it for those that do need to meet rules. I didn't think anyone was offended. Your comments didn't bother me at all,Rick.
