Or rip for that matter.

I do prefer the boots with the flange for maintenence reasons. The over cage boots cause the grease to get in all the bolts and such. Just messy! But you have to weight the pros and cons. I think the Edge boots have more pros!

Hmm at this rate maybe my ban will one day be lifted  ;D

Doubt it!  :police:

Yes over boots go over the bolts, but on an upside i'ld rather have to get grease out of the bolt head rather than dirt. usually my upright assembly is packed hard with dirt or clay, the over boots just stop a little more issues regarding it.

It is possible to use both. I run a standard CV boot and then put the over the CV boot on over it.  The bigger boot has plenty of room inside for the smaller standard boot.  Works out nice.  The standard boot keeps the grease off the bolts.

If I believe I cannot do something it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe that I can, then I acquire the ability to do it , even if I didn't have it at the beginning.

I have heard of others doing that and have forgotten. I think I will do the same. Nothing wrong with that. Not sure is The Edge ones will accomidate that set up. Maybe!

Yes, the edge ones will fit, but how the hell can you justify the extra weight just to stop grease going into the heads of the bolts?
purhaps my mind is to focused on performance rather than wank?

They could be a more reliable setup, but why not just the right boot to start with?

Depends on where you ride I guess.  If in an area with a lot of rocks and stuff that could tear a boot then an extra layer of protection would be nice.

I could indeed justify the extra 6 ozs, i can not justify doing do to keep the bolt head clean, Plus you have rubber turning against rubber when it flexes etc...

Where's Fineline?

He was running these HD Edge boots and had a couple of problems......

Maybe Tony's fixed the flaw.

Has anybody got any 934 over-boots?
what would be a substantial width for a flange for it to mount too? is it 128mm ID? (about 5 inch's)

Cheers

What were the problems? The ones I got from Empi looked very substantial.

He had lots of issues with boots on the Cuda - (his was the first one built).  I seem to recall that they split in the creases.  I'll let him respond when he gets back from overseas.

I've got standard boots on mine.  Bloody things perished before I got to use them!

Perished, literally cracked and crumbled.

Mind you they were sitting in the bunker for quite a while.

Is anyone making them from silicone?  Anyone had any experiences with them?

I know from working with full face respirators the silicone versions are more supple and don't perish.

What they don't tell you is that silicone is a whole lot more prone to tearing.  A mate of mine once moulded some out of Urethane, he's probably still got the moulds, I'll ask.
