New? V drive?

http://www.coloradosandcars.com/SandTruckV3/tabid/589/Default.aspx

The motor is in the rear facing backwards and it and the tranny feed power into a V-drive just like the drag boats use. You can see the diff is offset to the right and the driveshaft actually comes up beside the motor a good bit.

I saw a really good pic of the v-drive in the truck somewhere. I will see if I can find it.

I know what a v drive is. What's new about it is what I want to know.

I figured you knew what a V-drive is. But maybe had not saw the truck?

I think RC51 Rhino calling it new is only refferring to its new application in the truck as many have not seen this kind of setup before. Cept maybe in drag boats?

Pretty much JUST what it sounds like. Its like a transfercase. But power comes in one end and goes out the SAME end ONLY at an angle like a "V". Thus the name.

The gears give just a little bit of an angle. I have always heard that they designed and made for those crazy high power drag boats as the motors sat in the very back (and backwards) and the shaft angled down just so to the prop.

Go to the link above in my other post and look at the first two pics on the right after you enlarge them.

You can see the drviesahfts entering and leaving the box in a "V" as it angles power from the motor/tranny to the rear axle.

Oh and MY dream car would be Robby Gordons $400,000 dollar race truck.
