I'm going down this Thursday to mow and hit the sand for a couple hours with the YXZ. Wish we could have met up.

My toy won't be tuned until the 9th(Friday), so I am hoping to find someone to dune with over that weekend.  And that all depends on if my new mods even work.

Try real hard to see that Chris pays attention to the tune overall ,not just WOT. I asked him to concentrate on driveability  but,IMO,he came up a bit short.   I did quite a bit of tuning the off idle and midrange myself after I got it back.   Basically I gave him a 90% tune and got back an 85%. He did make sure the timing was not too much over the rpm range.  . That was something very important to me. I'm not ragging on him ,just passing along info.

Considering how clueless (uneducated) I am about tuning, and everything that it affects, I appreciate the info. I really need to learn how to data log.

Anyone needing tuning absolutely needs to .

i would be willing to bet that most tuner shops get it safe and dont tune them for best drivablity. one would think for what they charge that they would but based on those i have spoken with.....they just dont seem too. fabr is right, those cells do need to be tuned. you are in closed loop and he did set the pcm to autotune while your driving.  you will never hit all the cells surrounding the main body of the tune.  you will learn to tune along the way. it can be frustrating at first and takes a fair amount of time.   no matter what your dyno day is close by. then off to the dunes to test lol wish i could go but i cannot.  i still would like to see the graph of the final pull. would be nice to see what rpm boost starts and how flat the tq line is as well as where max tq and hp are acheived.

so depending on what rpm that turbo starts...... this is going to feel like you turned 2 more cylns on   ;D  :m

Briann are yoy familiar with how to tune your efi system? If not I'd strongly suggest you do so asap.It is a challenge at first but the more you do it the easier it gets.

I texted my nephew and asked if he wanted to go. Before I could put my phone down, he responded with "You bet your ass I do!!" I love the enthusiasm.

So far as I'm concerned, all you really need a dyno for is to optimize timing and WOT AFR  and then you get a cool dyno chart that really isn't worth the paper it's printed on.  :m Learn how to log ,how to read and understand the log and how to change the parameters as needed. You will have a much more responsive, smoother running car.  As one N Brian sort of said, you will never stop learning to tune.

hey 2N bring your laptop for the fall trip. lets see what we can see and data log a run.  eventually you'll understand most of it. i say most of it because  I (1N )  still only understands half of it  :m rofl

My new turbo/header combo didn't work. The set-up did what I was shooting for, but went WAAAAY too far! Long story short, my exhaust was too restricted and the turbo too small. I have another turbo being built, and will try again. Do you have your new transaxle in and buggy back together?

Well sucks that it didn’t run like you thought.  I know you will get right.

Motor and tranny are in, just need to finish up.

Dsrace knows all my secrets :m Let's put it this way, I  achieved 4psi boost at 1500 rpm(my buggy idles at 1000 rpm) and maxed out the turbo at 3000 rpm. He had to get extreme with the timing at that point, and there was nothing left but very hot air going in the cylinders.  I hear that isn't a good combination!

twins would make 0 turbo lag and should be good to 6k rpm  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;) :m

If only Arashi made a reverse rotation turbo for the twin......wait....I already asked!!

fab, I am planning a trip to LS this weekend.  If you happen to be there, look me up. I am going to try to find a spot in Cowboy, with a few others.
