Below was my orginial review a few months back. Having used it, for the price, I still think it is a good value. I also like the RAM mount sytem - yeah yeah, mastr thinks they both suck, but, he is in Kansas.....

17 year old girl just got her first car. *So, looking for GPS, and I ran across the Lowrance XOG. *It has the usual turn by turn, voice, and “find” features of all the typical street GPS units, but, it also has direct mapping and the ability to enter actual coordinates – like a GPS unit I use for off road stuff. *Numerous “way points” trails, etc. *Oh, yea, a vivid color screen. *As it is a Lowrance, you can get topo and BLM maps separately and then install them. *Finally, it has a “gauge” feature that includes a GPS speedometer. *Mounting bracket is ok. *It likely will work with some modifications. *Might want to look into a RAM bracket if the goal is off-road use. *
To top it all off, it has a built in mp3 player. *(Good for her, the car has a mp3 input jack.) *As it has a built in mp3 player, if you want some tunes, or want to hook it up to an in car intercom system, it is plug and play 1/8 mini plug output. * It uses SD cards – so, your call on the total number of songs per card – I ended up with 2g for $16.00 holds a herd of songs. *
The off road potential is big. *Especially if you want both the GPS, and mp3 in a car. *Now, I get lots of the high end units do all this. *They seem to be a minimum of about $450.00 for Garmin, etc with all those features. *
So why the excitement? *
This bad boy was $219.00 – not on sale, just $219.00. *[smilie=ecstatic.gif] *(Shop around, might find it online cheaper - I could not wait for the shipping due to birthday constraints) It was however a tough nut to find. *The usual suspects on the electronics stores did not have them. *I ended up at the Bass Pro Shops. *
Eliminates need for separate mp3, brings color display to the party, does most everything a high-end unit like the Baja does, and, wait, again it was only $219.00. *- Price will likely drop when the new wears off.
