Is that your transmission drain plug?
-
that is not good! is that from the glamis trip?
-
looks like the pinion? what trans are you running? what were you doing when that happened? high jumping?? ;D ;D
-
Pre Glamis, got everything together, couple trips around the block, and there is this ugly noise.
Don't know when it actually failed.
Sposed to be built 091... bought used, been sitting for years before being put into service.
yep, that was a pinion gear before the mighty NA 2.5 got a hold of it. :m
Better to find before miles deep in the dunes.

well bad deal and better at home like you said. i can tell you for fact.....if it was built at dons bus box it was not built! his idea of fully built is weddle sportsman gears that he calls weddle performance gears. sportsman gears are an aftermarket replacement gear that might be slightly stronger than oem. they are not weddle racing gears and to fully build a 091 you need all weddle racing gears and internals along with there heavyier duty intermediate housing. $3500 in parts. i`ve seen a number advertised as fully built and the key to finidng out if they are is to ask what it cost tem. if they say $2500 its not a built trans, its another dons bus box special lol. with a little luck your has the good parts and can be rebuilt quickly and inexpensively. not sure that words exists in the offroad trans world but some one has to be the trend setter lol i have seen northstar v8`s run 9 years on the fully built trans so i would find it hard to believe an n\a 4 cyl would do that from hp alone. hell chris snapped 1 chromolly stub axle and ripped both t\a`s from the frame from wot landing and never broke that built 091 that shane builds! i abused mine bretty good with an n\a 3800 series II v6 on 33 blaster paddles weighing in at 1800 lbs wet.

sad part is you can buy mendi e boxs new for $5500 still. thats a lot of money to drop puls there 2" narrower and use diff mounts but $4k to $4500 into a full build or $5500 for a new e box. kind of a toss up. not saying yours will cost that to fix but just saying.
-
Don's Bus Box . :nw LMAO LMAO 5: <a href="http://www.animateit. I will admit mine has held up a long time somehow. Don and I had quite the argument going once upon a time based on what I found inside it and his outright BS.

built half assed, it should hold 170 hp 5:
I keep my eyes open, should a soobie putting out 250ish ponies become available (trunkey) for a decent price, I probably won't pass it up.
But it would have to be a good deal, the 2.5 I have now, is a blast blast to drive, I just get left behind a bit on the big hills by the V8s.
-
yes built half assed even it should hold 170 hp! maybe a turbo? ;D that'll keep you up with the v8's ;D

the NA 2.5 already at 10 to 1

I use to run my 2332 VW at 10-1 and ten lb of boost. ran it that way for a good five years. had to run race gas. but other then that ran great. i did it this way so i still had some low end torque. if you are concerned about it just keep the boost down to 7 psi.
-
7 psi would be a very noticeable diff on your engine stickflipper. they do become a little higher maintenance boosted but imo the payoff is worth it. could even go e50 fuel and still have the octane to support that.
-
get the trans fixed? ever start on the front end? glamis trip go well?
-
how the rail coming?

The trans was pretty much just worn out, pinion bearing shot, so it started eating the gear teeth... yada yada yada.
Once I get the transmission back and installed and going and put some other fires out, I'll cut the front end off and start on the upgrade. I have A/C in my shop 8) :D

well you missed some riding then. sounds like a good plan and a\c in the garage is a must!
