V8 Open 4x4 Sand Dragster
« on: May 03, 2009, 02:34:24 PM »
I built This frame for a friend. It will run in Open 4x4 class on sand. It will run 320ci small block with Buick heads. He may run nitrous latter. I copied basic frame design after another friend's frame, with improvements.     Lower rails on my jig      Bracing       One side    Phase 1 complete      When engine, trans, rearend, etc mounts are done I will finish weld. I will post more pictures when car comes back. In mean time I have his son's jr dragster getting engine transplant. See snowmobile belt size. Tim

Nice work.

Thank you. Didn't Pat Goodale used to race a motorcycle at the sand drags? We have visits from Blown Income at Big River Sand Drags. It is an Open 4x4 that runs low 3's @ mid 120mph. He won Gravel Rama last year. Tim

Pats boy runs the bike.. Cant think of his name.. It was green last yr... I seen the gravel rama on videos, Very interesting... you likely have seen the Oklahoma guy with the airbrushed hauler to then eh? He was putting a new engine in the car the day we were there, I heard the engine cost 80k, and he only runs about 2 races with it and gets another one... All for a wopping 500-1000 payout, man got to have some passion for that...

Hell my 60' times in my dragster were .900-1.00 to be able to run 7.10's in the quarter mile.

If I believe I cannot do something it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe that I can, then I acquire the ability to do it , even if I didn't have it at the beginning.

Remember, theres about 70% or so tire slip in the dirt "I am guessing" I assume these cars could run very fast 1/4 mile speeds... I think that the 2.56 car was claimed to be 22-2500 hp or something...
