Title: It's all Grimm Reapers fault!
Post by: BrianN on August 05, 2022, 01:09:59 PM
I just re-watched Adams dune video on YouTube. Screw it, I am leaving work, going home, throwing a bunch of crap in my trailer, and goin to the dunes! Thanks a lot, Adam!! It's all your fault.

:m :m :m I'd join you but the dune house AC went on vacation. Too damn hot to care right now. I'll fix/replace when it gets to only 90 degrees. This 105+ shit is ridiculous!

Will you be sneaking in some sand time while here?

If so,it will be with the SXS. Depends on how it goes getting the old unit out and new one set and dimensions gotten for transition ducts. In all honesty probably not this trip down.

Maybe I'll have some time this holiday weekend to get it edited, and posted up???

I cannot remember where I've heard that before. Completely drawing a blank at the moment but I know I've heard that expression before

How did your rail run out on the last dune trip?

It was a little "sparatic". Changed parts, etc. But the miss came back. I am waiting on narrow wheels now to do a little dyno tune here in Tulsa. My data logs didn't have the info they needed to determine the problem.

Well I had high hopes that was all fixed after finding the exh leak. When does the miss present itself? Only at low load/rpm or light accel, hard accel etc etc....?  I assume it was still drivable to enjoy the trip?

I could never really figure out a pattern. I swapped alternators because the datalog shows high voltage levels as rpm goes up. (15.2 I think) Humble Performance looked at it and agreed, but he looked up Subaru "limits" for volts and was surprised that it was normal/acceptable. I had to reorder VW wheels (Jeg's sucks!!) from a different vendor, so I am back to waiting on them.

How does the cam sensor look in the data log? High out of sync counter ? This odd that 15v would be acceptable unless suby had a long battery cable.

Have you tested the throttle position sensor for a smooth sweep with no glitchiness from 0-5volts with an analogue type volt meter? If not smooth as silk the TPS can cause what you are seeing.

I can't answer that because I don't really understand what I was looking at.

I have not. But I will definitely put it on my list. Thanks for the suggestions.

Wes, do you still have some EK ZZZ chain laying around? 530 flavor.
Title: Re: It's all Grimm Reapers fault!

After I got home from last trip I got it down from the shelf. It wasn't the EK ZZZ as I had remembered. It was some inferior crap. Sorry,I meant to let you know. You are welcome to it if you want it still tho. Make a tool box emergency spare. If I recall correctly it is long enough and I have masters as well.

What Wes said on the emergency spare!
I have some ZZZ on tap, how many links you after?
Otherwise, all I run now is the ZVX3, I have beat on it at 20 psi after 2 seasons at 8. It is now removed and bagged up as another "just in case" spare.

Best thing about this chain, other than I have not broke one yet, is the screw style master link instead of the PITA rivet style. Make repair out in the bonnies a breeze.
