zx12 turbo time
« on: November 09, 2017, 01:17:38 PM »
Well after too many delays, time to force more air in this zx12 to get more out.  So heres the plan;
garrett gt25 turbo
stainless log manifold, to mount off side of motor
500cc inj
e85
intercooler
new larger inline fuel pump
new Yoshi center drive section
variable rising rate fpr
billet clutch basket

Looking for 8-10 boost as that's safe number across net.  Still on fence about low comp pistons to up the power, that will prob be next after I get this sorted.  Never enough, never.  LMAO

Many of parts on way, many more to come I'm sure LOL  Pics as we go along.  New center drive is in, few more braces.  Too many side task to stay concentrated.

looks like that turbo is off a volvo with a 2.3l in it. and says stock 16 psi should be your limit. so that's a cousin to the stock ihi turbo off the 87 88 turbo 2.3 ford. the 84 to86 were garrett 50 trim and good to 22 psi.

Slacked enough I guess
Ordered up bunch of parts, few more to go. First turbo the td04 deal fell apart had to get a refund because they wouldn’t ship it. So ran across a much better deal,
Garrett gt2560, aka gt28. Ball bearing, oil and water cooled. New At a price I couldn’t say no too
Stainless 2.5” log manifold hanging turbo off the side. Been a little slower with Xmas shopping. Lol

Also changing our center sprocket drive, but slight delay as I may put in a rev box if Santa is good.

this is going to be fun!!!!!

looking over my data logs from LS last night......mine is a journal bearing turbo so yours will spool faster , esp higher comp motor. i am making 1  psi boost at 44% tps at 1894 rpm at 14 afr.  i have had a lot of time to read up on certain things and apparently there are a number of people pulling 2 * timing and leaning out to 14 ot 15 afr in the 100/106 kpa range right before boost range. to start spool up in a lower rpm range. been looking to find this range via my data log graphs.

Nothing beats working for hr, then shopping for 2 hrs to find the next piece.  Then waiting, lucky I have several projects going at same time like usual to fill the gaps.  But sprocket drive out, RPM reverse going in.  Motor back in, fitting some small parts, radiator moved oil cooler, intercooler up in.  Throttle bodies off to fab shop, hes making a plenum for me, since they don't exsist.  So a few pics cause we all like pics.

Rpm mount from Yoshi, very nice piece and way easier than fabbing myself.
New turbo plenum, and spigots welded to throttle bodies.
And the new indoor creature comforts requested by my copilot. LOL
