chassis mods
« on: January 09, 2019, 06:50:31 PM »
so a fella i know named jack has a turbo 2.3 rail he needed modified. he is about 6'3" and getting up there in age with some knees that dont bend so great so more. he needed more head clearence and a lower side rails to get in and out easier. so i finally agreed to make a few changes for him. the chassis was built by the same guy in utah that built dougs yellow turbo 2.3 rail.  also wanted me to add eps to it. so here are some pics of what i have done so far.

Damn!
Nice work!
I couldn't see much detail on my little stupid phone.
The EPS conversion will be the same setup as your rail?

well i am finally wrapping all the mods to jacks rail. i replaced the roll cage for more head clearence and better vision out the front by raising and widening it. i lowere the side frame so he could get in easier. i installed eps ( saturn vue) and since the rail is rear steer rather than front that was really tricky in little to no space! i also welded in 2 1" tubes to make a center console. worst problem with doing any wiring on rails like these is there is always certain things you have to touch and they crumble. jack didnt wire this rail, he bought it from a guy in utah. they used 10 amp switches and overloaded them to the point that one litterally crumbled when i touched it. the swithes done operate relays they are a direct to unit switch. so i only had 2 30 amp switches and needed 3 but i replace 2 of the 3 anyway.  also saw there were only 2 out of 4 bolts holding the rack on. the person that installed it missed when he drilled the rack mount and was off by hald a whole on the lowers so he just installed the through bolts. with power steering he will need 4 lol barely enough room but i can apply the brakes with out my foot rubbing on the steering shaft. jack will be happy with all that he has asked for.
