There is no such thing as too bright in a shop. Anything less than sunlight on a bright day is too little.
Speaking of conventional...... The incandescent is not dead. MIT figured a way to make them more energy efficient than leds. Still happy with the LED retrofits. Fabr, LEDS will not "come of age" and be like "conventional" Leds are not full spectrum.
