My new toy
« on: May 28, 2009, 08:01:46 PM »
Well sort of. My buddy's dad had bought it and never got a chance to set it up and use it before he passed away 4 years ago. My buddy had it in his shop ever since. He has a small machine shop of his own with his own equipment so he didn't need this lathe. He didn't want to sell it but he said that I could use it and keep it in my shop because it is just talking up valuable space in his. He said that his dad would be happy to have some one get some use out of it. So here it sits in my shop. The only bad thing is now I will have to learn the fine art of machining. Could be worse ;D
It is a 10" x 22"

Oh yeh Doug. I polish her up after evey use. Been playing with it for a few days now and i am getting the feel of it. I'm sure it will be a long and sometimes frustrating road ;). I always thought it would be kind of a cool hobby, and I was right. I like the idea of taking an ordinary  peice of metal and making something useful out of it

Doug is an extremely talented machinist and fabricator. He seems to be willing to help people in any  way he can. I respect him for this. It is a rare trait. Tim
