DS like the dimmer "mood lighting" inside.  ;D

Fabr, the fluorescent you use, is it a standard base or the larger screw in base?  I've found the big fluorescent screw in but the fixtures for them are $$$ commercial.

Standard base. The place I bought mine are apparently phasing out the high wattage cfl's though.

 www.1000bulbs.com

They have a lot of lighting options. Might want to check it out for the LEDs .

So I'm confused why all the commotion about LED bulbs?

I have 8 foot dual bulb fixtures.  I think there's 10 of them?  Let's just say in a 3 car garage it's BRIGHT.  DS won't be coming for a visit  LMAO

They seem so not worth it?
You save a bit on the electricity but how much is 26 watts really worth in dollars?
The cost when you factor life expectancy is also in favor of the Fluorescent?

All the data is taken from Fabr's website he posted.

i have 5 double 8 foot florescents in a 28' x 28' with a 10' ceiling. 2 of the fixtures are 100watt bulbs and the other 3 are 75 watt i believe. that is borderline too bright at times.

I couldn't agree more ,Lance!!!  I have to caution anyone thinking of going the cfl's though, they are rated in initial lumens. They DO lose some as they age. I'd say ,from my experience with about 60 of them ,they lose maybe 25% over their life. AM I right in thinking LEDs maintain full lumen output over their life?

Speaking of conventional......  The incandescent is not dead.  MIT figured a way to make them more energy efficient than leds.  Wonder how quickly this will come to market?

http://www.fastcoexist.com/3055440/all-hail-the-new-incandescent-light-bulb-efficient-as-an-led-bulb

Purdue is working on a bulb as well.

http://wlfi.com/2016/01/24/purdue-professor-inventing-a-new-incandescent-light-bulb/

Between the mirror and the photon approach, incandescent will be back as the next "big thing."

Still happy with the LED retrofits.

Fabr, LEDS will not "come of age" and be like "conventional"  Leds are not full spectrum.
This was announced today.

cfl's are on the way out like the dinosaurs.

Ok forgot about this, kinda on back burner a bit.  But finally did something as I had a welding project to do and its dark when I'm home after work.  So this side is about 22x30 inside and I used 24 standard screw in bulb fixtures with 100w(rated equiv) flouresent bulk 6500k.  Its so bright I wore sunglasses to cut tube at night.  Thought about charging to hang out and tan.  Very happy, and have under $150 in what I did.  Equiv LED was gonna run another $100, figure in next yr or so those prices will fall and be less.
