Starting to like the hardpack?
"There can be no divided allegiance here.  Any man who says he is an American,
but something else also, isn't an American at all.  We have room for but one
flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is
the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a
loyalty to the American people."

We are. The best part is that it is right in our own backyard. Good for day trips.

OK, question time and time to decide what to do.

When I bought the tranny it came with a two disc clucth.  This requires that the fly wheel be machined to accept it.  Should I use a multi disc clutch or simply stick with single disc?

Pros cons?

Dam I wondered where that duel disk clutch went?

With that heavy of a car I would surely entertain keeping the duel disk.  Should not be that much expense to have a flywheel machined.  Want to remember that with a duel disk you have effectively doubled the contact surface.  A nine inch would be nice but still not the same contact area as a double. I think that running a double runs cooler then a single.

If I believe I cannot do something it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe that I can, then I acquire the ability to do it , even if I didn't have it at the beginning.

No doubt the dual has more surface area.  Just on puck vs full disc.

Any downsides?

Plus on duel disk, less heat put into flywheel.
Neg on single lots of heat went to flywhell.
Heat means slipping clutch and warped flywheel.

Down side of duel some rattleing of the center flywheel not much but can be heard at times.
Extra cost of disk when replacing.

Dual disk will not slip when hammered on=broken trans. Use a stock sprung disk and a pressure plate strong enough to keep it from slipping under full throttle load on flat ground. Replace the stock disk as needed, they are much cheaper than tranny's.......

The advantages to running the dual disk is the amount of surface are they have. This will make them take abuse for twice as long as a single disk. It also let's you reduce pressure plate force making you thrust bearing live longer. Since your not V-dub powered the thrust bearing issues do not apply.......

One of the reasons for dual disc was to increase ground cleaeance by use of a smaller bellhousing. Another was the lower pressure plate springs needed. Another yet was the lessened rotating mass allowed faster or easier shifts at higher rpms. The ability to hold higher horse power is yet another. It goes on and on. All that matters  for most applications is that engage smoothly and not slip under full throttle.  A dampened disc ,as bdkw referred to will engage most smoothly. Ya just gotta pick what you desire to be able to decide which way to go for YOU.

Didn't say it was. ........................ ;D Are my points incorrect ? I know that he is comparing a dual disc of equal diameter to a single disc. I agree with your recommendation of what to use since the added mass of the equal size dual disc will actually hamper shifting, add wear to syncros if in the trans of choice, add expense and will not engage as smoothly as a dampened disc. The only slight drawback will be added pedal effort.

In this corner - Fast and the dual.  In this corner Mastr and the six puck.  The ref?  Bill at AZT.

Now I watch a fair amount of MMA.  Generally I bet on the bigger guy.  But the mastr guy is little and moves around quick.

It is beginning to sound as though there is some draw back on the dual vs. just more cost.  Lighter pedal I don't really care about.  So I guess I have more research to do.

I am going to go watch ring girls now.......
