Did you buy the frame or copy it?

I sure hope you built it.

How much wheel travel are you looking to have on it.

I built the frame from pictures off the web. I have a 2007 SC 3800 out of a Grand Prix going in it. The way I have it figured it will have 14" of up travel and 6" droop in the front. I'm still waiting on the rear shocks so not sure about the rear yet hope to have them next week.

I'm a mechinical designer I worked it our using AutoCad Inventor and Solidworks. Because my work lets me work at home I have a HP work station here with both programs so I get to play designing my own stuff here.

"designing my own stuff here. "

Is it me,or does that frame resemble a certain store bought frame?

It might just be, you would be surprised how many ideas you can get off the web. Plus I really liked the design, and when you can't just go out and buy what you want some of us just build one as close to it as they can. I'm already planning next years buggy but this one is going to have a V8.

Just to let everybody know I couldn't have built these without the help of a lot of good friends and a special thanks to my best Bud Brian the one in the picture above.

Yes I'll admit, it does look very "Sinister" but that is all it does is look like it. No store bought frame, a-arms, or spindles on this build. It took a lot of time trying to figure out, my own way of making the suspension work and how I was going to make the V6 work instead of a Busa motor. My hat is off to anyone who builds there own ride. I just need a little inspiration to get started. Shoot before that I built custom cars for a hobby and I have a killer 68 camero project going in my shop out back. That how I got my idea's doing them I would see something I liked and change it up a little bit to suit me.

Looks good to me.

Can somebody explain to me in nice small words so I can process, how the angle of the a arm pick up would affect the front end?  Is it just that the joint has * of rotation at all axis so it works?  Guess it never caught my eye as much as it does on this design.  Seems like there are all sorts of forces going on there as opposed to just the typical planes?

(Dang, did any of that make sense?)

Back to work for me now.  I am beginning to hate my job and the boss can kiss my ass.  I am thinking a new job would be cool.

It's called rake. Some schools of thought are that rake makes easier for the tire to cross over obstacles and absorb whoops better. I agree on small ATV sized tires but see very little benefit on large OD tires such as used on full size buggies.

Yummi I think I know what you are asking if this is what you are asking about I don't the answer all I can tell you is, I got my information from this from Toms ProDesigns web sight a long while ago and that is what I tryed to built to my new frame to and it is set up at 11 deg's in the front.

I'm going to try for a test and tune weekend when you all will be there. I have to be ready for the big trip to Idaho in June. It looks wider in the front than the back but they are the same width 92"

That's look'n good, actually I was thinking of doing something like that, I like the V8 idea, a mate had a buggy that had a Leyland P76 V8 in it joined to a VW gearbox, it was a real job keeping the front wheels on the deck to steer. ;D It was a lot of fun but. 8)

That rail looks nice. " sinister" without the "sinister" price. I bet it will have a hard time keeping the fronts planted.

Thanks, I had a little set back the front shocks turned out being to long and it had way to much droop and when collapsed it still lacked over 12 inches before the frame touched the ground. I had to order 10 inch shocks for it and it works a lot better now.
