Spirolox or What Is The Biggest PITA Ever Devised

Yet highly reliable and the best method of retaining piston pins bar none. I absolutely HATE installing or removing the sorry ass,contrary ,easily damaged,not reusable,seemingly near impossible to remove, finger destroying mother fookers from hell!!!!!! There is a tool for installing them though but with most race ,long rod piston skirt designs where the pin intersects the oil ring groove it doesn't work really well as the spirolox sit pretty deep and the interrupted oil ring groove screws with it's use  but as with most things, the more you use something ,the easier it gets as you discover all the tricks of using it.  That's what this little gem has been like. A little gem from hell almost as bad as no gem,using your fingers and also nearly as bad as the fricken spirolox themselves. It DOES work extremely well for shallow pin recesses though.

I thought I'd pass it on to anyone that has pulled almost all their remaining hair out  and wishes to have their fingers live to see another day.

  With the pistons shown it works easy as 1-2-3. With mine it is as easy as 10-11-12-13---------

Sand rails and dragster rails are both fun. What I really want to do is desert running. I HAVE to find a group for that in the next year.I don't think any of you guys are into that. To me,it would be the best of fun. I know we've talked and talked about hitting Killpecker a lot and that would be,to me,as much fun as G or St.A also. The more I look into it and the more I find the roads are supposed to be better getting to it the more I want to try it. Any interest in meeting up at Rock and hitting Killpecker on the way to St.A this time instead of on the way back that seems to not happen ever??
