Does this look like it will hold up, i will be putting rubber bushings between the steel and the tank brackets.

you don't want the straps on the seam of the tank.  move them over just a bit.  Where your flat pieces of steel meet the frame, put a little weld in the center, but don't go all the way to the edge.  Will post a pic in a sec

This mount could also be done just like the radiator mounts that saddle (wrap)around the tube.

That would be better than the flat piece also.

Why not weld all the way across?

The tank is hanging off the tube more or less, does this help

Hmm, is that bracket going up and supporting a weight that will pull both down and forward?

Yes, the tube is being torqued by the tank.
This is why the brackets must wrap around that tube.
I agree it's not ideal. What is the wall thickness of that tube?
Is there anywhere underneath the tank to place a support pad?

looks like, (boy better pictures would go along way)  that you might be able to raise the tank, and use that cross memebr to the right side of the car as a support - think shelf made out of an "L"? You could then tie in a leg to make a diagional cross back to the lower leg of the "L" and have at least part of the weight supported allowing the bracket to act more as a position keeper rather than support?  did that make snse to anybody other  than me?

I think I understand that.
I had a hard time with the pics too. Notice my drawing was done with the weight hanging. I finally realized the position when I went back to the one pic that shows the filler opening.
I've never dealt with this type of tank with the mounting straps.
Do they need to be rubber mounted?
