I'm just finishing my second buggy build, but would like to change the way the rear hubs get mounted to the drive axle.
What is the standard way that guys are using to attach the inboard CV joints to the axle?
OEM uses a spline, but I have no way to machine (broach) internal splines.
The picture below is what I've been using. The flanges are held by the use of a 5/16 keyway, which IMO is not strong enough.

Using the very diff out of the car you use the axle shafts is a good way and usually cheap.
Mount it on bearings and weld it up for a spool. The ring gear land makes a pretty good and easy sprocket mount.
You can often weld the holes in the diff closed and put a grease zerk in one of the covers. If you want a diff for turning brakes.

Use a standard cv flange that is already internally splined and have the shaft splined to match.

What size motor?
G&G has all sorts of off the shelf spline components.

You can get them from any bearing store IBT, Motion industries, etc.
Actually they would probably work better if you were trying to use U-joints instead of Cv's
