Razr Build
« on: October 07, 2008, 08:51:37 PM »
OK, never done this before, so bare with me... Always wanted a tube bender and finally got one for my birthday a few weeks ago. A buddy of mine had just rolled his brand new razr on our last rip to the beach and wanted a custom cage. a deal was struck and I went for it. This is my first cage and I did this with production in mind (used his as the guennie pig) here's how it went...

Today, with only 2 weeks left for our trip to Dumont (mmm... Dumont), I got it all welded up, Got the side bar thingies on and the 5-points in. When we get back, i'm adding a roof, doors, front prerunner bumper and some other crap. Oh, I also flipped the stock wheels around to give it 4.5" on each side. Now thats a seriously low budget long travel! I'll post more later

Thanks for lookin, Matt

Bend Tech Pro. I used 1.5 x .120 DOM, I'll use .095 next time, .120 just seemed a bit overkill.

That is a slick looking cage build, Nice job :D
I do have a question tho, Did you plug the butt welds  on the rear of the cage? I know it sounds like a pun but I am serious :)

If you mean the ends of the tube, on the back bumper, I have butt plugs :o... I mean tube ends to weld on still. I was kind of hoping to find billet caps for them, but all Ican find fit 1.75" tube.

If you are talking about the joint, from the cage to the bumper, those are disconect joints.

and thanks for all the kind words!
