exchanged PMs.  No need to talk yet - that would require I remove myself from my solitary loner ways.   We can save that until after the new year and the thing is in the back of my truck.

I do get a forum member discount!

Every little bit helps when it is unexpected stuff.  I do a lot of professional networking at the dunes (Serious) So if I can find a way to get it done by Jan I will.

Not to bad at all.  Had a buddy come over cause an extra set of hands is always good.  Three hours start to finish.  Have a wish list of parts, usual suspects as it is at this stage, bearings (pilot and throw out), clutch disc, but plate etc look good.  Had to remove the water manifold as the wiring harness was "trapped under" it.  It will be on top when it goes back together......

No busted knuckles, no swearing, no unexpected surprises that cost an arm and a leg.  Time to load it up to AZTransaxle, wait a week, maybe make it to the dunes for MLK day yet.....

Met a heck of a nice guy today and got some SWAG to boot.

Thanks Bill - I needed one of those here at the house!

My wounded 091 is in the capable hands of Bill with AZ Transaxle.  Which is good, cause it was my incapable hands that put the hurt to it.....

With luck I will make the trip of Jan 16th.

In case anybody was wondering what the "E" is for on their logo it is "Arizona Transaxle Exchange."  Bill showed me some picture of his mini that he is building for his son - lucky kid.  Sounds like a well though out mini and I know it will keep the kids safer than the quad.  Heck, maybe he will post a build log here?  He also has some first hand experience with them funky u joint axles that claim to get 30*.  From the sounds of it, ehh,  not so much on them....

Later posts at a later date.

So, I could post a picture - but why?

Spent the day getting it all put back together.  Have to finish up some stuff, axles, wing, double check all the bolts, but I should be good for the MLK holiday at the dunes.

When I did the axles (CVs'), noticed the ends are mushrooming - not bad, just a bit.  C clip is in tact and being replaced with sprial locks.  Is the end mush normal?  Can they be salvaged at a machine shop?  Ie: splines cleaned and a cleaner end groove put into them or do I get to plan on new ones?  It is a summer project, not today, just thinking out loud...

Are the cv cups showing signs of the axle hitting them?

have not got that far yet, need to remove the grease from them and inspect - Sunday's project.

Pretty normal for the axle to mushroom some. If the c-v goes on with just a little persuasion don't worry about it. If you can't get the c-v to start I use a small triangle file at about a 45 and clean each spline. If there is room outside the snapring groove I can taper them for you

Well, the only person this thread was good for was Bill.  Mission accomplished.

Drove around the block, all the gears are there.  No leakys, cleaned the car, it is on the battery tender waiting for next weekend.  Now, with luck some of that Specelicious bloody Mary juice will get here on time.....

After a weekend of hard duning, here is the final verdict - Right and tight.  Very nice.  Precise and no slop.  Good stuff.
