Why's Kentucky get such a bad rap???  We call the really rural areas of PA, Pensyltucky  (Pencil-tucky)..

But the Hillbillies just kind of do some weird shit. 

I think that is where the rap comes from.  Well, couple that with a rich history of inbreds, incest and blue people, and it just gets weirder and weirder.

LOL  Well it's pretty much broken into a few parts, Central,Eastern and Western Ky. Not all, but a big part of what you see in the movies is made from tales told in the Eastern end of the state.....I think it might have something to do with being so close to Virginia and West Virginia. The mountains of their prospective states anyway.. The Western end of the state is a little less "cultured" and Central Ky. is where the horse farms are. The race horse farms anyway.
