I was wondering what you guys are running for a fuel pump. I have the stock in tank gsxr 600 pump but it looks like i have to buy a tank then take it to get it modified to accept that pump. I plan on ordering a Dynatek power commander and Protodie K&N setup. Also may send my throttle bodies off to have them bored out. What would you guys recommend? Thanks in advance for your help.

What yr, dont bore the t bodies just change them, the newer 04 600's are bigger, and you could always goto a 750. you dont need more top end, you need more toque, generally a smaller carb t bodie etc will produce more torque....Less top end...
-
It's the 04'-05' model 600. My brother was the one that was telling me i ought to bore them out. (I generally just dismiss his ideas anyway because when building or modifying, his way always seems to be the MACGUYVER technique.) He's one of those guys that has never used a weldor, pipe bender or anything else that is much more complicated than a set of crescent wrenches. LOL.
-
I would not bore them if i was you... ;D Im pretty certain it will hurt your torque curve...
-
What about the fuel pump setup. I would really like to get a fuel tank ordered.

add this to a 3.5 gallon 8x16 fuel tank....round aluminum tank that is....
-
;D That's badass!!! Where do i get one of those?
-
Sorry forgot that part, From Protodie... ;D
-
They are just a weld on piece right?
-
yes weld them to a standard round aluminum gas tank, he also has them for a flat tank...
-

If you do a flat bottom tank make same provision for a small sump also and plumb your fuel return line into the sump. Nothing worse than having a 1/4 tank of fuel and stopping on a steep, having the fuel run to the end of the tank and losing fuel to the pump. Don't ask how I know this.

Adding a sump is a definite must, especially if you are using one of the round spun aluminum tanks. They are long and as comrade Borris said if you don't steep inclines or side hills will be a challenge.
-
I may have to contact protodie and see if he can do some wonders and sump that weld on adapter...
-
Or just an o-ringed spacer that acts as a sump for those with tanks that don't have a built in sump and the regular mount for those that do.
-
-
Yes very.
-
actually, the gixxer picks up at the bottom, that being 1.25" thick it already has a sump, just not super deep...
-
True. In fact I measured it. It only holds about 15 cc's. Your engine would only run briefly on that.
-
You have one of the protodie adapters?
-
No I welded up a sump that is about 6x6x4.5". I thought you were referring to the stock pump which does have a very small sump built in to it. That's what I measured. My mistake misunderstanding what you meant.
It is true that when the stock pump is inserted through the tank adapter there would be a bit more volume available. Still not much though, only enough to run the engine for a brief time.
Don't get me wrong. Proto makes great stuff. I'm not knocking is product. But just like Comrade Borris I like to share painful lessons learned and I too had one of my buggies "run out" of gas on hills when I had plenty of gas in the tank. A sump fixed that for good.
-
Got ya....I was trying to figure out protos holding just 15 ccs, only reason i asked, when i did mine i had about 3.5" of sump alone, protos is a really inexpensive alternative i think...
-
Here is a pic actually...
-
probbaly was about 2 1/2" actually, forgot the 1" thickness of the adapter..
-
Comrade borris! I love it!!! Maxine got any pics of the triplets without a top on? ;D ;D ;D
-
Yes Comrade Borris as a matter of fact I do have a few choice shots of the tripplets sunbathing. They need their vitamin D you know.
-
Welllll................I'm waiting! PM ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D will be fine.

Have you had some dental work since the last avatar?

Sybil (Cybil) Syndrome? ???
BTY, if you gonna be a chick, at least go back to the hot one?
-
Have you had some dental work since the last avatar?
no but I have been working out
-
Doesn't the gsxr fuel pump drop in on the top of the tank.
-
Nope, it goes up into the bottom...
-
Flanged and o-ringed.It's not really an intank pump. It's tank mounted. Fuel does surround and cool the pump though.
