Panels aren't narrow strips. I don't argue your example . Do the same with a 12"x24" panel and run a perimeter bead 1" from the edge.

but something else also, isn't an American at all.  We have room for but one
flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is
the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a
loyalty to the American people."

Has to.  Take a pice of material three inches wide and run 1/8 bead 1/8 deep and then see if the same pice is three wide.  I bet i'll be 1/16 th less.

Yup!

Panels aren't narrow strips. I don't argue your example . Do the same with a 12"x24" panel and run a perimeter bead 1" from the edge.

And Yup!

If it shrunk the whole panel it would cause massive warpage.  I have never seen that happen.

YUP! I have ran hundreds and hundreds of feet of bead . I usually use heavier gauge than most and even the nawwow strips don't budge when running a bead. Now an offset lip is another animal.Still the change is very minimal

Any tips?  I am thinking of a piece of angle on each side of the mouth of the machine held in place by C clamp.  This will be a depth gauge to keep the panel material at a uniform depth.

Oh,never worked well for me. Ally is so "sticky" it drags too much and any lube I used removed my sharpie lines. If I were to do a fence it would have nylon or something as a bearing material. I just use my eye tho and go SLOWWWWWWWWWWWW.

Good deal.  Glad everything worked out ok on that deal.  My bad.

If I believe I cannot do something it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe that I can, then I acquire the ability to do it , even if I didn't have it at the beginning.

I'll not make any claims as to how the super thin stuff the drag car guys use tho. I don't use it and it may well act differently for all I know.

Either a 4E or 2d Mindy.

The pipes are Gibson and the trans is a 2D.

This aluminium work is humbling when you have never worked with it.  Not hard to work with at all just measuring correctly the 1st time is very helpful!  rofl

Made more progress over the weekend.  Ordered more DZUS fasteners and I am not sure I will like them.  They sit flush against the panel and the ones I have used so far the bottom of the mount is recessed a little.  Seems easier to tack weld.
