« on: December 03, 2009, 04:04:05 PM »
I had someone offer me a 600 kawasaki with a cracked frame for $200 and couldnt pass that deal up. So ive decided to build a buggy. ive got plans and the skills to build it. Ive been doing alot of research and figured out alot of stuff im going to run into but what i dnt know is the grade or size of mild steel tubing to use.  Thanks for the help!

$1,000,000 can of worms.  Start with what the plans call for....?  If they dont say, then get some new plans.  Where you gonna ride it, that can mean a good bit.  Sounds like a steal on the bike, w/all the parts to make it run, hopefully.
You can keep your CHANGE, I'd like to keep my DOLLAR.

realistically if your budget allows talk to Doug Heim here and check out the cudas style buggy he builds and supplies all the needed goodies for you also. Very good way to go and the build will go nearly flawlessly. Faster build means more time for fun ya know!

the cudas are one seater right?  The only way i got permission to spend the money was if she could be in the passenger side. Its two seater or none.

Look into thr r82 of rorty. Remember you can pretty easily alter the upper cage area to help the looks and even some of the mid rails. The suspension locations and such need adhered to tho.

if i built it and told her the roof rack was for her she might own my buggy and half all my other stuff to :'( so i dont think ill try that one.  I looked at the badlandbuggy t3 and the R82. im trying  to research as much as i can so i can have the buggy that best suits me.

I was thinking that since i have a complete motorcycle i know im going to use the stock gauges off the motorcycle so that ill have a tack, speedo, ect. would the brake calipers and rotors be usable since ill have three (two for the front tires and on in the rear)?  I cant decide if i want to use a foot clutch or use the lever mounted off the bike on the shifter handle. I know it might be easy to misshift but it would be cool. What do yall think?

I have no knowledge of the 'Cuda builds personally, but I was always wondering, what about a fore - aft style 2 seater made by stretching the frame and bracing accordingly?  Not needing to start with a 'Cuda of course, but they are a good looking mini!!  Any thoughts?  I think that it would be more balanced then when riding solo.

FWIW,IMO only the tandem sitting arrangement will make for a pretty long car the will much sooner high center in the trails and the center of gravity will be a fair amount higher.
