Bugs right then more thasn likely.I assume this was not a reputable shop or they would have known what they were doing?

They were very reputable. That's just it.  But they were out of there Liege with fiberglass.  I was referred to them by people that use there trailers to haul million dollar horse's.  That's why I can't blame them alone.  They did there best to work with the fiberglass manufacture to get all the right ansewers.  But should have paid there heating bill to.

If I believe I cannot do something it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe that I can, then I acquire the ability to do it , even if I didn't have it at the beginning.

After placing an ad on craigslist i found a guy who needed a smaller trailer, I swapped even for this one.. Should do exactly what i need to do...

Pic 7 shows the dovetail, the back rail is tweeked a bit but i can straighten that, then the wood needs to be put back in correctly, it needs some new rubber on it and the brakes wired up, i will be taking the ramps off and building something lighter. it is 16' with dovetail. I can get another 1' on the tounge for a perfect fit... Looking at a weight dist hitch on craigslist as well for my 1/2 van...
Best of all the deck is only 6'4 wide, the tires are the only thing wider than my van which is a big plus..

It needs some work, i was just out investigating, For some odd reason the tounge is the same height as the deck, Which is to damn high, it has one of them antique recievers anyhow That needs updated., so i think im gonna drop the reciever 4", got it all figured out now..

New trailer looks good!

BTW, single axle can work.  Mine is about 22' with tounge, load area is about 19'.  Fits two seat drak and single seat drak.  It's all aluminium (the material aluminum wishes it was) except the axle and tounge (and wiring and parts of the brakes and tyres and nuts and bolts and parts of the lights and the crap you wrap the axle in so the aluminium and steel don't corrode each other).

I scaled the cars first and sorted out the weight distribution (axle position) pretty carefully but, in the end, it was worth it - it tows really well.

I do not mean to hijack the thread Bugpac, but an aluminum trailer is very interesting to me that means no rust ever.

So Oz is it preforming as you had hoped,do you design trailers for a living, how much weight can it carry, and what did it cost to build, are you willing to share the plans?  I have so many ???  ;D ;D

Looks very nice. I gotta add my 2 cents though.IMO ,I much prefer tandem axles. I know that a single axle trailer properly loaded will tow just fine. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with a single axle if that is what is preferred. However the flexibility that a tandem gives is well worth the extra cost of a second axle.A tandem will walk more smoothly over a curb or through some rough campsite for example ,they provide a much larger "sweet spot" when having to haul unbalanced loads,on rough roads like we have here they also ride more smoothly.

I have owned a few alum trailers, They indeed are nice... I have found with age alum tends to crack easily, maybe was just the design...
