Title: Group hug at LS in October
Post by: fastcorvairs on July 22, 2009, 08:44:58 AM: OK guys here is the deal.

I and master have had a brain fart and want to run and idea across you people that are planing on the October trip to LS. I have talked to the lady and gent that run the Deuces Wild camp ground. That is the camping park that is just south of the city park and just north of the road that goes to the Cowboy camp ground. You can walk to the grocery's store and Jimmy's sand store form there. You use the sand highway that runs parallel to the Cowboy camp ground road to get to the dunes. I can work a deal on a group rate and or at the lest can get us a discount per slot at the camp site. These are pretty nice pull Thur with full hook up slots. I can get my 72 feet of rig in the center slots with no problem and there is a real nice grassy spot for the people that are pitching tents. Did i mention full sewer water electric and lots of shade trees. Lots of room for a 18 wheeler. The camp ground owner drives a tractor trailer and parks it there to. See attached pictures from last week end. Let me and Master know how many for sure are coming down and I will get back with the camp site pep's. It would put all of us in one spot and I believe would be far less then the cost of a spot at cowboy or the south lot. We need to start a list some where. Like we did for the flags. It would be kewl as hell to have every one in one spot don't ya know.

My trailer has electric heat figure October may need that working. I am about 45 feet. We also may have another group coming with big rigs.

Post by: fabr on July 22, 2009, 09:48:54 AM: I think the Dueces Wild camp ground is the nicest by far at LS. The FULL hookups and pullthrough slots are great! Really easy access to dunes and best of all SHADE!!!!!
Let's just start the list here and I'll update it as needed. I suggest we do a list that is final and payment due by maybe Sept. 1? Would that be adequate time for us to reserve the spaces fast?

Lots of tent spots. The week of the seventh Thu the eleventh of October are the dates. Bring a camper ifen you got one. LS is just across the broader from Kansas. Check out Map Quest for Waynoka Oklahoma Little Sahara.

I think the tent spots at Cowboy camp are $7.00 a night. Come on down and you can set up a tent in my spot at Deuces Wild camp sites. Right next to my trailer. Me and Master are side by side there and there should be plenty of room between us. Yes you will need and orange flag that is 10 feet form the ground when mounted.

Little side note of fun for Doug.

They got over 3 FEET of snow in Billings, Montana and some of its headed for Michigans north end so you might get to drive home to some snow Doug?

Can't wait to see the pics and video. Have fun those who attend!

I guess he is not going to make the dune trip then! that rail is now about 7 years old. shane is leaving wens morning too but craig and laurie should be there in a chevy duramax class c rv right now.

All in all it was great to meet up and ride although I would have liked to do more. I was there early and good thing too. Tues was a nice day and dunes were untouched. I was the only one from the group. That and Friday were the best days. Other than that... Forget about it. Im from WI and I was even cold. Thanks DS for letting me crash in the warm trailer! 8)

Fast woke and saw them and let them in the warm toyhauler. Bet boltz and the boy were happy about that! Bolts boy got his dune cherry popped right! Fasts friend with a 2 seater subie turmo rail took him for a ride. Fast and I were running with them. That boy has a grin on his face to say the least. That in itself made the gathering worthwhile. I rode Dougs fish a bit . I usually don't play with others toys since I rarely let others play with mine and I don't feel comfortable really hammering others toys as I'd like , but Doug wanted me to so....... I have to say that it handles great. The fish was very nimble,quick as greased buggy juice,suspension felt well tuned and all in all it is a great buggy that anyone would be proud to own.

Oh yeah, the green looks good also Doug. Between doug,fast and the osha lime green hoodies my wife and I were wearing we could be seen a mile away! LOL!!!!.

While that is somewhat true it should be OK to (With permission of course) dance with a mans wife. Just not to screw with her! Same goes for the buggy.

Thank's for the sampler box of goodies. I Think we ate most of the pickles. I got all of the beets before anyone else got down there. Tell the Speconator she did just fine. Master gave me one full package of zippy's that were left over I had to break into before the week end was over. We did have a bad oversite for the soup dinner Master and I both forgot to get the sampler box out. Well it was in the care of Master though. Mite not been a oversite after all. ;D ;D Sorry Doug. The weather really got us screwed up on planning the soup dinner so some of the guys lost out big time on the South West Chicken soup. Even though I had to fix it because my wife could not make it in time it turned out pretty good if I do say so my self. ;D ;D Least no one got toemain. And it was just to damm cold and rainy to fix the home made Icecream.

I have never seen it that cold in oct!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if it weren't for all the great people and new friends I would have to say I was sorry I went to hang out in the trailer or by the fire the hole time. fast I have to say I am sorry, I thought you left at the same time master and miss fabbr ;D left! we all loaded up for a 2 pass run and had a blast until one of us blew a shock. that shock was or is a king and actually came apart. I told him I want to take it apart because I can't believe it came apart like that, I want to see how king builds their air shocks! either than that 4 or the rails in our group went down by sat night. shane blew a shock, dean bent a spindle, sam threw valve spring retainers and allan lost the out put terminal on his alternator! nuts I pushed your buggy into shanes stall so it wasn't on the rd but by the time I got sam pulled back you had already loaded up and left :'( I wanted to say hi. I hope we see you down for the next trip which will have to be in may or early june to insure warm weather well maybe not june! I like cooler weather but damn!!!!!!!!!! I didn't bring coveralls but instead I had to wear a t shirt long sleeve flannel my lined jacket and a coat on top of that plus 2 pairs of socks and my rain suit bottoms ( ya doug my poppa smurf pants yabetcha! ) and a stalking hat just to keep warm enough for quick u-turn out the gate!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it made it real hard when the little cinnamon bear started scratching at the door.

all in all seeing everyone and that good 2 pass ride around the dunes was great, master/fast damn nice toyhaulers. fast thanks for the ride love that rail, I wish my 3.8 had the acceleration on top end that yours does that was great. I have dougs go pro memory cards but I am mailing them out tomorrow doug so you will be able to post up this weekend.

hope to see all on the next trip. ;D ;D this means you too enemy!! I have a few new dunes I want to show you! ;D ;D ;) ;)

When I built the first one tho I had 2" of clearance overhead WITHOUT the tires on in the original shop area. Had to roll it out on pipes and put tires on after it was outside.

Seeing as i live in the country i have crappy internet. So this morning is the first time ive been able to log on and post anything. I got some pics and a small vid of my second ride in the buggy ever. Soon after i got home i rigged it up with some links of chain i had laying around until i can make a 5 link rear end. Works like a champ. I have officially pissed my nieghbors off beyond repair. F**k'em. I dont like them anyhow. They better be glad i atleast have exhaust now. DS bro i wasnt trying to run out on you i was trying to get it back over to the camp so i could run to town and try to do a quick fix on it. I will most deffinately be there next time and ill be better equiped.

I want to send out a special thanx to Fast and Dave. You guys made the whole trip worth it by giving my boy a ride and by rescueing me. Just so everyone knows....If you break down and gotta be towed in you are gonna have to sign the tow strap. What i did notice in the trunk of Fast's car was a rather large stick with writing on it and boy im glad i didnt have to get whatever it takes to sign that. LOL...Thanks everyone for the good time and friendship. Just shows me that im where i belong.

Now...onto another note...to all you non believers...The honda tranny performed flawlessly.I have since dogged the piss out of it and the chain is still cool enough i can reach down and hold it. I had the buggy up to 105 mph and no problems. I am going to change tire sizes to give me a better gear ratio as i am in 5th gear in the honda tranny now. At the dunes in the vid i will post i spun thru every gear and it still moved pretty good on the sand. My only issue so far is some frame flex that is allowing my axle to pop out of the cup. But i fixed that. Ill post up pics in a bit and ill post up some vid. Thanx again to everyone.

P.S. Dune...bro i hope it all works out good for you brother. I know how you feel right now. I will keep you in my prayers.

On a side note I would like to let everyone in on Front Range center for Brain and Spine Center. I saw Dr Writ and just his bed side manner was worth the 7 hr drive from Lincoln. The web site is www.brain-spine.com. I hope no one else needs them but if you do I would recommend paying them a visit. In my case he is 95% sure on the course of action. But we are contacting a friend of his who is doing research at the forefront on my condition to get the most current information possible.

Glen Stevens specializes in my type of golf ball. Been living pretty normally but I get tired easy. Think that is the meds in no small part. I get a little jittery here and there but hoping to play with the rail this weekend and on thanksgiving just out at the farm. The meds are hell your tired but can't sleep.

Watched the footage at DS's last night. Dam I wish I had gone down, f@#$ the golf ball its not doing anything right now. Planing on the sping trip not sure about Silver Lake. SL sounds like to much work for the play area for me.

So Nov 27th I'll be east bound and down.
