Title: Barracuda Run
Post by: plkracer on March 02, 2009, 07:30:37 AM
Took it out to Buena this past weekend, had LOADS of fun. Car did great, couldn't ask for more. Got a little video of my uncle driving before the rain came in.

My uncle has only had about 30 minutes of seat time so far so he isn't pushing it that hard. Hopefully I can eventually get some video when the car is being pushed real hard.

Don't mind the guy revving his two stroke directly behind me around the three minute mark. He pulls up right behind me to watch the buggy then decides to clean out his motor.

Well I was about to give him a reason to be on the video... but he skidaddled. He ruined the audio for that whole portion... :(

Would love to Fabr, but I got 2 1/2 weeks of school left in the quarter and it's coming down to finals. When I get home, it's Moses Lake for a whole weekend.

Very nice Plkracer!  Looks like everything is working well.  Next time give us a walkaround on the car.  That cuda design is really growing on me.

haha, I know. I was talking with my uncle about school. It is important, especially now, to get ahead of the pack.

Engineer, you know the funny thing is.... I did do a walk-a-round video. Guess what... I left it on my dad's computer because I was using my sister's SD card and i forgot my jumpdrive. I know it is confusing, but long story short, I am at school, the vid is at home. I was going to do some voice-overs to talk about the car too, but that will have to wait until I can get the video.

yeah, I watched it my fair share, but it looks much better on the computer. I wonder why youtube doesn't have the high quality option yet.

nice video! looks like your uncle was having a blast and there is nothing sweeter than the sound of a sportbike engine in a rail!!!! next time take a fully auto paintball gun with you for those pesky 2 stroke mosquito's. ;D;D

youtube does have high resolution but you have to format in high res before you upload and it takes for ever to upload a 1g file to youtube.

Um... rake angle... ehh.. Doug any help here? I know it is either 16.7 or 12.7 degrees, but which one... I'm clueless.

There are other videos of me driving the car. The halloween one I am driving in the dirt and the last few passes of the car. I am also driving it at first in the test drives.

It started to rain pretty good that day and it began to get had to see out of the goggles so any hard driving was risking it. Plus, I didn't want to get it all muddied up.

This video wasn't the greatest. Maybe I should have taken off my gloves? It is hard to find the zoom, and the digi cam is very slippery with winter gloves on. Not to mention it is hard to hold still.

is the rake angle the upswept part of the nose? And if so do we include the angle the chassis sits on the ground?

Thanks Troj... I came up with 19.5*

Chassis sits 2.7* on the ground
the upswept nose is 16.8*

Cool!  Thanks, that is quite a bit of rake.  Is that not on the drawings?  Don't they give an angle to cut the tubes at?  Or does it just tell how high the front tube is in relation to the lower frame?

There is an angle in the drawings. It's 16.7-.8 for the bars, but the drawin shows the whole chassis tilted back 2.7 degrees too.
