Motor and Drivetrain / Torque for jam nuts - MD5
« Last post by budlight69 on May 22, 2021, 10:09:22 AM »
I am replacing the two bearings in the front housing (nose cone) on an MD5.  I am looking for the torque value for the two jam nuts on the main shaft and pinion shaft.  I need the initial torque for the first nut (to load up the shaft and bearing races) then the final torque for the second nut.  Also, what is the best cleaner to use to prepare for red loctite?  The nuts are 1 1/8", the shaft is 3/4".  thanks

even allan was giving me crap at the dunes about it. he listed off all that i have owned and added one i never owned. i informed him that i never owned a red one and then informed him there was one he never knew about  :m i bought a tailgator by keystone via an iaa auction in soix falls south dakota....... they said it was 101" wide but when i went to get it , it was only 96" wide so resold it. never even loaded the rail as i knew it wouldn't fit. sold very quickly also and made a few dollars so not bad overall. actually broke even with the overnighter even including what i paid doug to bring it back with him from arizona. the camper market is horribly over inflated right now!  i have never broke even selling a camper of any kind let alone a brand new one that i used 6 times! i am very happy about it! and a little excited about the new one  ;D ....... again  rofl
