I do know what you mean, Bazz. It's time for me to get a tach hooked up, too. The playback is a great feature because some of us (me) rarely remember to look down at speed. My problem is the tach out of the snowmobile is HUGE and doesn't fit in my dash, so I'm eager to see how difficult your Gonorrhea :) brand is to hook up.

I found that on the doo engine, with a non ski doo tach, it would not operate, as doo runs on Ac..

Well I got this Poxy thing  ::) goin' Dave n Bug! ;D
The green wire pickup from the VDoh! goes to the yellow from the coil pickup that's bolted to the inside of the Mag end. There are 3 wires there exiting.Yellow,Yellow/Black trace and black. It's the Yella one.
I first selected the #1 switch (says 2 cyl) from 4 available, inside the tacho settings area, but the needle shot higher up than a Druggies syringe! :o
I then changed to the #1,#2,#3 switch combo-says for 12 cyl,6 pole snowmobiles, ooutboards, and wella, wella, oomph! Matches my lil digital kart tacho.
Now just gotta find a nice spot for this tacho,so as to be easily seen, read from the HellCam vids. This way I provide the Clutch gurus with the most comprehensive way of relaying the "Race" feeling/feedback as poss.

It's actually pronounced as Jobe but is spelled Job. Biblical stuff.
"There can be no divided allegiance here.  Any man who says he is an American,
but something else also, isn't an American at all.  We have room for but one
flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is
the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a
loyalty to the American people."
Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Fab'd up some rough brackets this arvo, just to get this poxy thing goin' for this Sun morn races at Brookton. The VDO did'nt come with any mounting brackets.Davo as you say,NOT much womb to mount/house this tacho,so I made a Z drop down bracket to mount it infront and lower than the fascia, for visibility, plus a U shaped one from the tach body to Z.
To protect it all from incoming rocks, mud, high velocity CRAP! I mounted it in,DON'T Laugh....high impact Mountain Dew bottle! Ever run over one of these? Fill em back up and they don't leak, tough as!
It's all temporary of course! ::)

Slick as mate ;)
Is it worth anchoring the ends to lessen the vibration?
