Well,it's off to California tomorrow morning. Bought the Fortin.Pending inspection that is Sunday night.

Most people wait untill there a little further along on the build to lay out twenty grand for a trans. Oh no not or faber.   LMAO

If I believe I cannot do something it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe that I can, then I acquire the ability to do it , even if I didn't have it at the beginning.

Other side of town from me.  Could be 30 miles could be 100 miles.  LA is a big place.  Got a city?  You're welcome to crash here if you want.

Are you already over the turbo busa? I have been thinking about doing a mid engine v8 with a shortened c4 and a quick change 9" that has cv flanges. Been talking to my friends about machining the stuff to make it happen. I could do the whole drivetrain for less than the s4 I want to do.

I have looked at every possible configuration, and they always end up 18" longer than the transaxle which drives the wheelbase way up.

The other problem I see is that the 9" has the drive 2.25" above the input shaft, putting the output flanges 10+ inches above the oil pan.  It creates problems that only 38" tires fix.  ;D

I have considered building a housing for a 9" to run upside down right behind the engine.  Run a long input shaft past the diff to the tranny behind it, then a gear box to drop the output of the tranny down to run back under the tranny forward to the diff.  Basically a transaxle that can use a semi-stock auto tranny.

Dunno, I haven't seen a great standard auto tranny pulled off yet.

Lots of alternatives but this will be hard to beat any way other than initial cost.

The t'bo busa is fun,no doubt about it but it has always been destined to be the wifes car. Another year of debugging it to death hehheheehee and the new car for me should be done. The wife and I can then do the dunes as we wish. Me ,as a fricken idiot, and her as a mild mannered duner.

Could run a high pinion rear end to fix that. One has not been done YET. ;D  Somebody can figure it out, may take a swing at it.
