Title: Elec upgrade
Post by: Carlriddle on August 24, 2021, 07:46:31 PM
Well been a bit since I slung some sand w rail. Last trip something happened electrical never fig out. Been running a bazzaz FI control to fuel the turbo. Well it took a shit. Likely from elec spike?  They never made that unit for the zx12 but I talked it to program it. And now they are no help. So plan B

Megasquirt ms3x. Individual fuel and timing control. Something I could never do w piggy back. And for about the same money. Few 100 more wires lol. Learn some new software w limited memory in my brain.
Much cleaner simpler, and transportable to any engine.

are those reading glasses on the table??  :D

the wiring harness is the easy part. as long as you have a safe timing table and enter the specs it asks for, it will set a very rough base fuel map. the rest will be either a dyno trip  or test and tune. def not hard ....just time consuming. may need to spend the week at the dunes , ya know, for tuning and testing  :m

Tick tock tick tock. Ms3x box built. Had to order another harness. My fault. Rail striped of all kawa elec stuff. Mostly anyhow. Reuse the old ing key and starter relay gutted simple now. All sensor plugs cut from harness ready to be attached. Was really hoping to fire this weekend but no go til rest parts arrive. Getting close to deadlines set by better half, lol. She is not a last minute person.

So got Ms3x built installed in car few hiccups  it did get it to fire

But back to a problem I noticed when unloaded car. E85 had absorbed. Inch moisture white chalk in all fuel. Cleaned up nicely. But I had some milkiness in oil. Rad was a tad low maybe qt. Flushed oil. Put a little pressure to rad couldn’t see any water spewing. Few weeks go by cap of rad it slowly goes down, and now oil milky again. Put a pressure tester on rad to 10lbs, 1 hr later lost 3lbs, 2 hrs after down to 5lbs. So wth?  Doesn’t seem like a leak. Can rad evaporate that much out?  Always humid here but after in garage so dryer than outside.

Look up Dike radiator stop leak. C&R radiator recommends it. I have used it and it works.  Beauty of it is that unlike all other stop leaks stuff it can just be flushed out of system whenever you want.

Thanks Fabr.
Narrow down atleast 95% lol, to seals on water pump shaft. Kinda 3 piece setup outside at impeller rubber as is inside one going to oil pump. Center is spring loaded ceramic and part where weep hole is. Inside one was shot. Trying to get em located but zx12 stuff back ordered or discontinued.

if you cannot find the parts, have to skip the trip then i damn well expect to see a turbo zx14r in that rail , on the dunes for the spring trip!!

 ;) ;) ;D ;D

Parts for water pump tomm, but I’m still scratch my head. Why would I have  1+ cup water in oil but rad held pressure so well?  Could water pump shaft be ok under some pressure u til shaft spins,?   bs1

I've had a small coolant leak into a cylinder in the second hand Nascar engine. It will leak about a cup over 5 months and then past the rings to the pan. Oil never milks up. Weird . I think the water just sits below the pan suction fittings since there is about 3/16" step down into pan. Oil heats up and then i get steam from the dry sump reservoir vent till it all boils out of pan.

Back to your issue. Yes seals can hold under pressure or vac but leak in the absence of either.
