Coral Pink would the best place for a summer run.  Would be nice and cool.  They have a nice group camp spot to for 75 buk's a night.  No motor's or Genny's after 10PM thro.
Maybe a 4th of July thing?????

I'll mark it on my calender Master.  July the 4th 2011.

Dumont is not really "just outside" Vegas. Its 2.5 hours or so.

You take Hwy15 *(If I recall from memory) west from Vegas for two hours till you see the worlds tallest thermometer (Baker, Ca) and then head north 30 miles.

Baker is the LAST place you will see so if you need anything its 30 miles to it and Baker is just a lil place...

The only thin near Dumont is a coule cement outhouses near the first tiny area and its not near the real dunes!

You gotta pass the area with the cement outhouses (note: in the 120 plus summer heat you must be able to hold your breath for the time inside. This is mandatory.)

You go pass the outhouses to this long dirt road that takes you back a few miles to the base of the dunes where many camp and have a good view of the dunes.

Vegas can be cool JUST to go walk down the strip. You do not even need to go inside the casinos other than to a buffet if you like buffets.

The strips sites are worth seeing if you are in that neck of the woods.

There are some things to know about it though like the show they used to do (dunno if still do)  with the pirates and the two full size ships sailing around in the little harbor they made. You DO NOT want to get caught on that sidewalk when that show starts! Get there early nd sit up in the little stand AT THE TOP!

The sidewalk will get so crowded you will not believe how they pack it. I am 6 foot 2 inches and I was uncomfortable being taller than most there. But those sitting in the stands had an awesome view and not as crowded and the show was worth seeing. Skantily clad female pirates who were confronted and taken prisoners by the other ship of pirates. Some of the things they do for that show are pretty dang amazing.

Glamis you have Brawly 15 miles away for basics and goods. The last bit of the drive from Phoenix to Glamis is a trat in itself as the road is more of a roller coaster track than a road. Its not too bad for bug things but you will see a lot of scrapes at the bottoms of the hills on it from overloaded things going to fast. Hammering thru there in a rental car is IMMENSE fun!

But have a friend go in front of you to warn of cops! We went thru it at well over 85 and near 100mph and I am glad I was in a rental but it was so much fun we back thru it twice! lol

Plus the view alone when you first see Glamis coming in from Phoenix way is something you NEED to see and will NEVER forget.

Cannot yet say about Utahs dunes but hope to be able to soon!
Your mission isn't to dive feet first into hell, but to make sure its crowded when you get there.

I'm game.  We leave St Anthoney on the first of July.  Spend one night on the road in Nevada some where and be in Pink Coral on the third of July.  Nice camping there if we can get the big camp ground.

Need to check the calendar but I think that would work.

We can leave St Anthoney and run straight down 15 Hwy all the way into Utah to Little Sahara and spend the night at Sand Mt.  Then on down to Coral Pink.  That would be a nice run.  Long as we are both still running and not broke.  Comming home we could ether go back up to 70 Hwy and go east through Grand Junction Co. or go on back down to FlagStaff AZ and run 40 back home.  Would be a fun trip.

Coral Pink was nice.  The guys at the State park seemed to be mad about people with sand toys being their and where basic jerks to us.  Next door is a large BLM camp ground that is basically an open flat spot, which we had to ourself.  If you don't have to have hook ups the price is way better.  Only rule they had was no fire marks or pits after you leave.  The BLM guys where nice and helpful.  We got maps from them to dinosaur tracks which made for a nice day trip on the RZRs, sand covered trails with trees which can be a nice break from the sun.  Kids love the idea of going on a hunt.

Dunes are fun the hills have sharp nose on them like LS which can lead to getting a little more air than expected.  Big trees and huge rocks along the dune make for interesting pictures.

Kanab is awesome one of our favorrit place to go.  There is tons of trails all around the area all of which are beautiful.

Let's see how LS goes and decide for sure then. ? I'm all for it assuming car is OK..
