I invited a group to come over They pretty much declined...But this group has the best and the brightest with working/running units woodgas@yahoogroups.comI think about that damn gasifier every day....but to make the time to work on it...that's another story :-[
Many of those "proven" units aren't proven. You need to check into things like the filters and what the media is.
From what I have read I agree. Seems like there are plenty of tricks and maintenance even with the good units.If you are looking for short term generation only during outages I would just pay for the gas/diesel and save the headaches. Seems to me that you have to be really committed to make the wood gas work, and it really only pays off if you use it a lot.
It's kind of a mixed bag...It's principle is so simple....But the real world running unit has so many variables that it get's to be mind boggling...Have you checked out the woodgas group?
