BTDT  Masterfabr :P

If I could build my Cuda again I would've made it a bit longer, that TL1000R just barely fits and I had to do a bunch of mods to the chassis to get the exhaust to fit.
See you all duneside.😎🤙

How much hp at the flywheel of that 2.3 engine are you looking to have? That will decide what transaxle you will need. 8)

I was hoping to have around 180, but I might end up "juicing" it later, so if they can handle more, great, if not, what do you suggest? (Or I can keep it stock with the 180 and live with it)

Thanks

My suggestion is to find a 091 nose cone shift , an 091 side shift which can be easily changed to a nose cone shift, or an 094 side shift. All three   of these transaxles can hold 300hp when built up, which gives you a little leg room for hp growth.  8) 8)

Those transaxles will handle your 180hp in stock configuration, as long as it's in good shape, you don't side step the clutch and jump it.

Just out of curiosity, what would it take to jump it?

In my opinion you should run the transaxle in stock configuration so you will have a better idea on what you want for gear ratio's in the car for a good transaxle build in the future. 8) 8) 8)

In my opinion the best of these 3 transaxles is the 094 for 3 reasons. First off the 094 reverse gear is 4 times stronger than the 091. Second the 094 is available in a 4 or 5 speed. And third the 094 is easier to find. VW ran these transaxles from 1984 to 1991 in the vanagons.

The only 2 down falls on these transaxles are that there 2" longer that the 091 and that they can't be converted to a nosecone shift. The 094 shifters out there for sale are a bit pricey. 8) 8) 8)
