So these are 2 yr old tires on my trailer. This is worst tire, but all 4 show similar wear. WTF???

65psi. These are ST tires. Load D I think.
Someone mentioned biasply tire will do that to help with sway?? Dont find a marking on tire. Cheap ass tire.

They're all cheap ass tires nowadays. I just bought newer bigger ones for mine. I couldn't find anything that wasn't made in China. It was actually cheaper to buy tires and wheels than it was to buy tires, pay for disposal of the old ones, and mounting of the new ones. Pay attention to the ply count when you buy new ones...............

That is pretty chewed up, have you checked to make sure the axles are actually lined up?

Havnt checked axle alignment, but thats deff on list. These are 5200 axles, and trailer has never had more than 7k trailer and cargo. First 2 trips to LS they looked fine, noticed a little wear before last trip, but much worse after I got home.
Prob a total of 10k miles, hwy and I pull at about 70.

Not the tires fult. You have hit a chuck hole just right and the axle is bent in the middle. Take it to and alignment shop and get them fixed and you'll be good to go. They should be bowed just a little at the middle but it is beyond that. Put a big square up against the tire and see how much light there is between the square and the bottom of the tire. they are riding on the outside edge. Yor welcome.

only seen this once on my personal trailer and twice on two boat trailers. mine is a utility trailer single axle, 8.5' x 12' with a 3500 lb axle. 3 years old and the outside tread was gone on both sides of each tire. took it in to the tire shop to a guy i knew and trusted and he said there bias ply tires and were supposedly designed to help reduce sway but actually increase sway on a single axle. that is what chew'd the sides off. i had radial's installed that day and 8 years later there is only even tire wear and many many more thousands of miles on them than the first 3 years. several people said over inflation or under or over loaded or bent axle but in my case i know for a fact it was the cheap ass bias ply tires. i've seen this a few times on boat trailers as well and radials fixed those problems as well. 1 single axle boat trailer and the other was tandem. this is my best guess in this case judging from what i saw at the dunes. the tires had a chop to the tread as well, a slight chop that reminds me of a tire on the rear of a front wheel drive car that has never been rotated.

i should add that when i have seen this ( just like the second pic) that all the tires looked just as bad as the other and not 1 more than the other. glenn could also be right since there is a slight chance the trailer may have seen some air on a certain bridge lol lol if it bottomed out and the axle hit the frame it could've bent them. not sure though. it is just odd that it's the outside edge tread that is eating off which is like what i have seen with bias ply.

The inside edges are eaten away some too, just not as bad. There is a feathering going around the tire too. They are bias tire. Gonna replace with "E" range. Or maybe if I use "Carl's luck" I can get another trip? LMAO LMAO

I think I got the carl luck this trip bud. Bias trailer tires did that on my boat. Put radials on and never had a problem. But check the axle as well. Especially with this bridge someone speaks of....

The outside wearing faster would be normal. The axle has a bend to it so as it flexes the tire becomes perpendicular to the ground. Empty the top would tip out from the trailer. Under full load it theoretically would be perpendicular to the ground. On my new little trailer I went straight to radials.

So I'll check axles, and gonna measure to see if I can get 16" wheels under. Still up in air about ST vs LT tires. I'm going min 8 ply E range. LT tires are rated to a much higher speed, 99mph. ;D ST tires are rated to 65mph.

there are several manufacturers of st tires that put a 75 to 99 mph speed rating on them. can they back that up??? who knows cause they are st tires lol lol

I read a post about a guy that claims to use P tires. Just of the correct weight rating. Most cars (P rated tire) are light at 4000 lbs sitting on 4 tires only 1000 ea ofcourse not equal. But any trailer will outweigh that easily. DS put "E"
Tires on this truck I got. Ruff as shit empty but it will haul stuff. I'm a believer in matching correct weight for tires.
Also seeing some camper mfg putting LT tires on their rigs from factory. ST tires just like everything else in camper are the cheapest way out!!!!

LT ad ST tire ratings are not the same. Get a ST tire at it's maximum rated load and it's about ready to pop. Get a LT tire at it's max rating and it still has a large safety margin.
The only actual trailer tires I will buy are Goodyear G670's.

good tires but the tires i have on my toyhauler are st and e range. they are rated about 20 to 25% over my gvw and i don't weigh that much hauling so i know i'm good on that # but when it's time to change them i will be stepping up a notch lol

Put LT tires on the trailer and then have an issue ,tire related, and see what the law will do for you. You WILL LOSE. I will never run LT tires on a trailer again. Call your attorney if you don't believe me. I learned a very expensive lesson. YES,most ST tires are crap. NOT ALL!!!!

i wouldn't use carlisle brand for sure but any of the others are going to be china made i'm sad to say so if you go st then go 10 ply maxxus gladiator hercules are ching chang chongs but i have used all three and no problems other than the gladiators smelt like burnt brakes new before i even installed them and even standing next to them in the winde lol right dunebound69 rofl

My trailer (6x20 open) came with TaskmasterST D rating. Absolute junk. Second trip showing horrible wear and blew one out. Spent 2 hours in Enid getting a new one.
They had a Commodore ST R rated 6 or 8 ply. This tire is on its 5th or 6th trip and looks brand new. No odd wear. I will be replacing the rest with these as $$$$ permits. Of coarse, I may change my mind if I see some better ideas here.. My new spare is the Commodore. Commodore is available at NTB also. Just offering my blow out experience.

AFAIK all trailer tires are made in China. Most are ,as said ,junk. From a legal standpoint,IF THERE IS A TIRE RELATED loss or accident,you may well be up shit creek if using anything other than ST tires on a trailer. Just the way it is. I KNOW from personal experience. Now,that said, LT tires are better quality. BUT ,if one fails and causes a large$$ loss,forget getting the tire mfg to stand behind it. WILL NOT HAPPEN. FOr that reason I use ST on my trailers now. I have spent a small fortune on ST tires the last several years and have actually bought ,one time,a set of 7 name brand that all had less than 6 month old date codes and all 6 that were on the trailer AND the spare failed(massive amount of sidewall splitting on all 7) in one trip TO LS. I had to come back home with the trailer wheels and get new tires ordered and mounted before the trip home. IF you guys are running 16" wheels I very highly recommend LingLong trailer tires. I have LOTS of miles on them and absolutely zero issues. One set is over 5 years old with no signs of cracking and the rubber still feels "alive". They are labeled under a few different names .

Rubber compounds,it seems,are formulated to age out and die if the tire is not worn out in just 2-3 years now .That applies to LT and ST alike. I have a set of ,less than 3 year old date codes, Michellin LT on the dually. Side wall cracking is beginning. BS. Tire quality has taken a shit.

Linglong has made that tire under a couple of names. Prometer was on the sidewalls of first set and linglong on this last set. Same tire. Linglong is the maker. If you look up ratings for their street tires they are POS.LOL!!!! Horrible wet and dry traction and braking distances you need to pack a lunch for. LOL!!!!!!! That trailer tire ,in the only size they make in a trailer tire SFAIK,is the best one out there especially for the price.

largest local tire place quoted $440 for Westlake 10 ply 225/75-15. He sells sevaeral brand trailer tires and says this is the most trouble free one. Mostly good reviews online, esp of the trailer ones.
10plys are way overkill for what I'm doing, and thats what I want.
Anyone here ever used them?

Well in my life long trailer tire journey, it appears all tires are POS. All brands you will find someone whos not happy. I believe 50% are probably from owners neglect. (tire pressure, load, speed) being major contributing factors. So I will be buying the strongest tire for a 15" wheel, 10ply (havent found 14's) hoping that they will be more than fine for my application. I'm under 7000 loaded.

Bought diff Chinese brand. They make tires for many American manufactures. Couldn't find anything bad? Let me find name again....
