Modify stuff you got layin around...
« on: November 06, 2008, 04:00:13 PM »
I was wonderin if I could make use of some bits off the old beast for use on my off roader....

But I would have gotten in trouble... cause it wasnt mine. Car was a hire drive contract, I used it for the season, repaired any damage I caused but the owners race preped it and delivered it to the track each meeting. This was at Wakefield Park near Goulburn New South Wales, just finsihed qualifying, race suit was WET with perpiration. And I mean wet.

No folks the heading was tongue in cheek. Just discovered this snap as I thought I had lost everything in a comp crash a couple of years ago.

Please dont ask me what a season costs..Id be embarressed :-[

Cheers

A "Gentleman Racer?"

Go ahead, what's a session cost and what is the class or our equal - ie: Toyota Atlantic -  Barber Pro?  etc?

I always wanted to give it a whirl, till I realized I could never match the pockets of some of the gentlemen racers and figured me being a back marker would not do.   Even in "spec" Miata - they show and kick ass.

Yea, they have hot chicks too.    Something to aspire to.

I dont know what you guys got for comparison. I thought F3 was international? Its got a 3.5 litre v6 Hewland trans (british), obviously its an older machine but was used by Jean Alesi in the european rounds before being imported to Australia by a company called Purepower Motorsport (now defunct).

A season was 6 rounds and cost $30,000 oz so 6k per round plus damage (who me?). Sponsors where Konica, an investment company called Challenge and a motor firm.

I went racing for free.

Yup thats gentlemen racing at its best.

Btw, I know a little about reverse ackermann (as per a previous topic) cause this car, at this track needed it for 1 corner (and it made a significant difference to the speed at which you could attack the next straight).

You might notice the wings are adjusted to full down force, the only track we did that at really tight and windy. Top speeds here were no more than 280 to 290 kms.

I dont got the bearda nymore...slowed me down to much... ;D

About the reverse ackerman, you gotta admit it's not the norm unless it's "special".  ;D

absolutely and thats what we were all trying to say on the other post.

and a big OOOOOPS.... 190 ks not 290 ks.... yes fun, very stressful though. I was exhausted after each round and i mean exhausted. Nowhere near fit enough.

Dont forget that this was near enough to 10 yrs ago...god knows what it would cost now, in fact that might be why the company is now defunct??
The class is also not currently running either, why I donnt know as it was pretty popular bacvk then.
