Trojan, With my engineering knowledge, It's not ground breaking, just a large 3D trigonometry problem :o

;D

Is that Sandgroper for "someone else did it" :P
C'mon cough up.

Yes Camel, racing mugumber, haha yeh, get on with it! less research more progress, you can always change things after you build it!

Research is all I can do when not at home.......

Got a 6 tonne hiab coming 'round to Digrite 9:30am Wednesday morning to pick up the lathe and shaper.  Let the machining begin!

Being a banana bender, but having married a sandgroper and created another four, I think I'm somewhat offended by that statement!

Haha that sounds like fun Mr camel :O

Trojan, why can't you believe it? It's really not that hard!  :o

Yes, a prototype cush drive system, helps take the loads off the gearbox.

Would the cush drive help eliminate shearing off every single bolt holding the sprocket to the central drive hub? Im begining to think that the flat head bolts cant take the load. I sheared them all off this past weekend. I had an extra central drive unit so all it took was 2 hours of repair work.  ::)

I don't know what his drive is like but IMO YESit should help prevent shearing.
"There can be no divided allegiance here.  Any man who says he is an American,
but something else also, isn't an American at all.  We have room for but one
flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is
the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a
loyalty to the American people."

What grade bolts are you using Doug?

These were the Grade 8 M10X1.25 Flat Head socket caps. I opted for the finer thread for larger root diameter to avoid this. Tha bolts were locktight in. The sprocket must see more load than the CVs or any other component in the drive as there is only the one sprocket. After that the load spreads into two, Left drive and right drive line. Makes sence to me. Im debating on increasing the diameter of the bolt pattern and goint to an 8 bolt pattern on the sprocket side of the drive hub in the Drive unit.

I should also note that the bolts I run here are about $5 - $6 ea.

Would it be possible to get some better pictures of your rear lower A-arms?

I really like the "splatter guard" you put over the rear chain.  I'm going out to make one now !

Doug, I've never had an issue with shearing those bolts. you shouldn't be using grade 8, you should be using 12.9, that's what the plans call for...
This cush drive prototype was developed with EDGE and if it works well we might be seeing one from edge in the future.
Here are the A Arms

This is a cut down lap from Hyden Humps 2009, I have the full lap (21minutes or something).

Sound isn't very good, but you can hear the motor fine, so i decided to leave it and not cover it up with music.

Hyden Humps is a Western Australian Round of Offload Racing. It's Brother Race, Hyden450, Is held at Easter time and is the first of the national Round's in Australia.

Cheers
Phil
