I stumbled on this the other day for $200
normally I wouldent have payed much notice but the government here is ever tightening what can be driven on the roads and this comes with the log book, same as title over there and its suitably vague lol just says locost for make and that's it
locost was a set of plans hat you used to be able to buy over here and weld it up your self tell the dvla you had changed the body and they amended the log book, not like that anymore they test the hell out of everything they even measure how much air comes out of the windscreen demist vents to make sure its up to spec
anyway some where down the line this will get a new chassis and drive train and body lol but the number plates might be original lol

the plans for a locost have now been updated to use a mazda mx5 as a base vehicle so the original plans are free

if your really really bored you can download/read all 312 pages of the hoops we have to jump through to get a vehicle registered for road use here

no thanks :m

LOL!!!!!
-
lol I am not surprised, its hard reading when you have to read it, why would you read it if you don't have lol
-
At least you have a book to go by. Here it's like talking to the wall and waiting for an answer.

that's actually a very good point, we all moan over here about how many hoops we have to jump through to get a vehicle registered but its all set out out in the book so its not impossible in fact lots of cars do pass ( eventually ) even things like t buckets , must be much harder if you don't have clear rules

Each state has it's own unique requirements also. Some are no problem and some are like mine. Mine is a PITA unless starting from something with a VIN to start with.

I don't know where to put this but I have always fancied one of these to make into a buggy

660cc turbo front engine rear wheel drive, they rust like you wouldent believe but the drive trains seem to be robust
I was thinking of making a space frame and use all the mechanicals of one of these, as light as possible

thats an interesting read! had no idea there were diff tax rates for diff sized vehicles. wonder if the 3cyl turbo 660 sled motor came from them?
-
I have no idea we don't have sleds in the uk lol
I have pondered this overnight and whilst the idea of a tiny 3 cylinder turbo in a ultra light weight frame sounds appealing it only produces 60 bhp and I have a feeling its going to go to high a price anyway, got round to thinking I could buy an mx5 with 3 times the capacity 3 times the horse power for one third if the price
