Title: Anyone Know George Bryce?
Post by: fabr on December 23, 2017, 03:19:37 PM
Well you should ! I first met George over 30 years ago at a Superflow engine tech conference in Denver. I was very lucky to have been invited. I'm also sure he has no idea who I am now . George was/is the brains behind Star Racings very successful busa pro stock bikes many years ago and later on with Harley and who knows what else. Anyway, here is a link to a short but very insightful article by enginelabs of a presentation he made at AETC a while back. Take special note of his disclaimer at the end as well.  LMAO Worth the read. Some really cool engine porn too.

very good read!  i went .020 over on my pistons....considered .040 over but saw several posts claiming that made the cyl walls to thin. problem with web posts are the lack of info that statement is based on! is it for a long life daily driver on pump fuel???  1/4 mile wot max tq/hp and peak boost on high octane race fuel??? both have diff heat factors which is why i even considered it, my 2 to 3 times a year , on e85 with seldom wot and high boosts moments that last only seconds at a time at that. i have never gotten that deep into building engines, so that was an eye opener!  now.....the pic of the 3 pistons....wth does that piston on the left go to???

I know a George.  We hang every other Thursday at the strip club and have beers.  Talk mostly about honing, boring, lift duration and lubrication.  Same dude?

nopeyup but honestly, most stock block engines already have too thin cylinder walls for serious boosting in the first place but most times it's all we have to work with. Old drag trick was to grout the water jackets 1/2 to 2/3 the way full to stiffen the cylinders. We always found some HP doing that. You wouldn't want to do that in our application though. Here's a good read and a short vid with Outfront John showing what he does with the subi's to bandaid their stock block limitations. A good read.Don't have a clue but I'm betting George made lots of ponied with it.  :m The man is on par or above 99.9% of the top 1% of all engine gurus. Simply amazing what he and a few others have done to advance making power. The cool thing is that he has been sharing that knowledge pretty soon after he comes up with more  that he keeps to himself temporarily until he comes up with even more. It's been 30+ years and he's still doing it. KUDOS to him and to guys like Grumpy Jenkins before him.
