Hey in here,
This is the CV that I'm using. HOW it will be used is still being decided.
I have read for hours about the different rear end designs. Based on what I've read I want to go with trailing or semi trailing arms.
Some say that plunge has to be considered with this type of arm. My question is will this type of CV be okay with the amount of plunge trailing or semi's will induce or am I asking for trouble ? ???

That's a non plunging cv I think and will require slip shaft axles.Nothing wrong with that but design in as little plunge as you possibly can to avoid any possible issues with the slipshafts.

The outer rounded joint is non plunging but can do a great angle to steer the car as its a front driveshaft (looks to be VW)
The inner joint has some plunge but MUCH less angle than the outer that it can go to.
IMO using that on a trailing arm will mean very little travel as you will be limited by plunge.

If these ideas or parts won't work together, whats my best option ?

Change to a-arms and you can avoid many issues.

and just for the record, my wheel base is only 65 inches long and 60 inches wide, thats the contact patch numbers. so getting 12 inches of travel would be plenty for a buggy that small. am I fartin in a wind storm so far or ???

Not if you spring the car right. Yes,there will be a bit more likely but on a small buggt I don't think it's an issue and on a larger buggy I know enemy has no problems at all with body roll that I know of. Bottom line,IMO,is that properly sprung with good shock valving make body roll not much of an issue.

They look to be 80 VW Rabbit. I have bearing carriers for those that can be welded into whatever suspension type you choose. They are a steel sleeve with a lip on one side and a snap ring groove on the other.

I can't see a number. If it is an image hosted on a shared site like photobucket, imageshack, etc, it is blocked from the computer I am on. The carriers I have are made for a Set35 bearing which is on the '80 VW Rabbit along with many other VWs as well as other brands such as the Geo Metro.

above is the list of cars the bearing fits. Which is the same list for the hubs I had bought a while back. Hub and bearings from same manufacturer. Sorry dude but the wife is killin me to get on makin more stuff for the party tomorrow. whew, what a couple weeks its been here. Thanks and if we have matching parts, please pm a price. The width is the same so the snap ring groove would be in the right spot. There is plenty of wall thickness to shave them out 2mm. Yeah, I could open a pair up to fit those bearings.

how much wall thickness would be left to weld onto and
how much for a pair, not counting shipping ?
