Perfect Camp Car
« on: June 25, 2015, 07:17:19 PM »
Bought a little jewel today.Well, actually a gem. A GEM E2 . A buddy bought this about 3 years ago. First set of batteries went "bad" and Polaris replaced them. Still charged him 50% of battery cost from polaris. Fricken around 800 bux,his part.  thumb down Next set are losing run time now. Instead of 30 miles , he's down to 7-8 per charge.  thumb down He drove the thing all over hell's 1/2 acre. So why did I buy it? Got it for a song.Beats the crap out of a golf cart. About the same weight, just a bit more. The thing is STREET LEGAL!!!!!! New set of batteries and I'm gonna be a happy camper. Can't wait to load thething in the trailer with 2 sand cars. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Ummmmm, there could easily be a cough, cough,,,,,,,sport bike motor in it's future as well.

Cool.  Just today I was in Sun City and saw all the old dudes with Gems and Carts.  I said to myself "Gosh, I hope someday I can have an electric car to drive to the store when it is balls hot out."

OK, not really.

But it is still cool.

Like I say, it is cool.  I would rock it.  It is not quite rolling in the 5.0 but I bet I could pick up some hot babes wrinkle free grannies with it.

Quote
Rollin in my 5.0
With my ragtop down so my hair can blow
The girlies on standby
Waving just to say hi
Did you stop?
No, I just drove by
Kept on pursuing to the next stop
I busted a left and I'm heading to the next block

Ice Ice Baby!

Yes but $$$$$$$$ plus more dollars to tweak the onboard chargers algorhythms IF it has the right charger capable of that. . Honestly, the owner would consistently run the thing till it would barely move . That ,in itself,is a battery killer. I'll be lucky if I put 10 miles on it before it gets on the charger. Battery life should be fine for my needs.

It would likely be cheaper to put some quad/autotrans unit into it than replace batts. The best aftermarket lead/acid batts will run approx 1200 bux. Be a lot easier to just replace them with new ones.  Time will tell what I ultimately do .

Damnit!  Now I got to get a bigger trailer!  The stealth of battery power is nice, so I'd look for battery/motor from a wrecked Tesla Roadster.  That should lift the front tires.

Don't think that is not an option. I have a spare sitting here. I won't have the car till late next week to take a serious look at how hard/easy a bike / quad powertrain would be to mate to it. The damn thing has like a 12 something to 1 rear gear. Taking that into consideration, I'd have to change out the rear end as well.
