I have a "Curt" Weight Distribution Hitch and sway control that I want to sell. It cost around $500 new but I don't want it setting around collecting dust so I'm taking best offers. It' only been used one time. e-mail me or call 478-394-0330 if I don't answer I'll call you back.

I have a round bar. Works well, just keep the bars greassed in the hitch. Round bar units seem to cost less to buy. Either one will make a huge differnce. Takes alot of the pogo stick effect away.

Will it also stabilize a light tongue trailer?  I found a reese used local tonight, with sway control, Reese seems to be top dog and top price, He wants 3 bills for it, I offered 2 so well see... Has all the pieces for the trailer etc as well, I can get a curt on ebay for about 2 bills delivered with no sway control...

Unless you have too much tongue weight I'd stay away from th eWD hitches all together.Just my .02 from many thousands of towing with and without a WD hitch. No it will not help if the tongue weight is inadequate to start with. A WD hitch just transfers some of the weight on the hitch to the front of the tow vehicle. Now a sway control may help you out a bunch! The sway control can be used with or without the WD bars in use.

If you are tongue light a WD hitch will make it worse. I actually lifts up the back of your tow rig and that in turn move weight off your rear tires on to the front. Have you tried tractor supply. I got mine there years ago for about $250. No sway control and I believe it is a valley hitch. I still have it, still use it. Has to be going on 6 years. The bars come in different weight capacities as well. So you probably do not need a real heavy hitch if you are not pulling a large camper or super heavy load.

Ditto and if you use too large a capacity bar you won't like it either.Personally If I were you I'd buy a set of airbags for the rear and the sway control. Likely not need or want the WD hitch.

I cringe every time I see one of those WD hitches go through a big dip, or up an inclined drive.  Anyone ever broke the bars or bent anything on one?

I guess they are no worse than some old grandpa driving a 1/2 ton with a 40' 5th wheel with a standup master bedroom over the hitch, barely clearing the 13'6" overpasses.   ;D

I have seen a bar slightly bent, but it was not from normal usage.

I am looking at getting one of those things that make a bumper pull, pull similar to a fifth wheel. There is the cam type one that attaches to the trailer and the curved track one that stays with the truck. I was looking at the second one since I have multiple trailers. I think the CAM one might not drift in as bad in corners though. I think the trailer moves side to side during in the middle, but as the angle increase, it moves to the side less.

It would be cool to setup the receiver with a motor and lead screw to pull the hitch in while on the expressway then shove it out when turning into a narrow drive way.

Has anyone seen the device that you stick in the reciever, and it has a tire or tires on it that rides on the ground, and the trailer hooks on just behind the tire.  I assume you can adjust the preload on the tire.  The tire is on a caster so it can swing around when you turn.

I found the patent for it, but can't seem to find a picture or where it is sold.

They have those for gooseneck/5th wheel trailers being towed by short bed trucks. I think it's Valley but may be Reese.

Did you not say the trailoer and payload was approx3500 pounds? Remember they are talking tongue weight and a trailer of 3500 pounds total  will  have much less than ,or SHOULD,400 pounds otngue weight. Air bags my man.

The well thing is called a Toad. Takes all the weight of the tow rig. Puts another pivot point in your rig. I think I saw some on racingjunk.com or etrailer.com do recall for sure.

I agree with Fabr on the tongue weight.  See what it is before adding bandaids.  With your 20' will you have room to move the two vehicles at all?  When hauling a single car on a car trailer, I have never had a weight issue.  Just park it as needed for the tongue weight desired.  Trailer brakes recommended if loading for minimal tongue weight.  The worst situation IMO is minimal tongue weight and a heavy trailer with no brakes.  Disaster waiting to happen.

I NEVER will use a trailer other than a light utility trailer without brakes to tow any distance at all.IMO bugs trailer needs brakes for sure seeing what the tow vehicle is.

I got brakes now, and will add brakes to the new one for certain... my little 14' trailer had brakes as well..
