You cant run those cold carbide blades in reg cutoff saw.  They need to run much much slower.
LOL!!! They CLAIM you can though.

We have the hand held (Skilsaw Type) Evolution at the shop, and man that puppy doesn't fool around.  That thing cuts 1.5 inch thick T6-6061 with just a little help from WD-40 with ease.  IMO one of the best investments I've made at the shop.  We used it for one job and it paid for itself.
Is it like this one? I have a abrasive chop saw. It sucks, the wheel moves for accurate cuts, also has alot of sparks. Doesn't really matter if its loud just the sparks. Also with the chopsaw you have the nasty sharp edges when your done. The chop saw will not alow me to cut pass 1/2" stock. thumb down

This is what i've been using for a couple months:

http://www.dewalt.com//ProductImages/PC_Graphics/PHOTOS/DEWALT/TOOLS/LARGE/8/DW872_1.jpg

It's loud and throws hot little chips, but it's very fast. Prob 2 or 3x as fast as an abrasive chop saw, especially in thicker metal.

How much is that unit? What is the max cut for thickness will it cut pass 1/2" stock? I'm looking for accurate cuting and with the abrasive it just doesn't cut it.

Yes ,you can. They are junk tho and will not last. They make big claimd about the blades you are talking about but the testimonials show they are junk. Proper tool + proper blade = great results tho. You can't just slap one of the evolution blades on a standard Skilsaw or chop saw and get anything but poor performance frpm both the saw and blade.

Even saw some folks trying to use those electric speed controls you plug the tool into and slow the rpm down with.  Problem then is the motor dosn't have enough torque at lower rpm.

I dont get to much wobble with my abrasive blade.  I only use 10"  3/32 in this POS saw.  The thin blade can cut right thru tube in 10 sec.
You can keep your CHANGE, I'd like to keep my DOLLAR.

I have found that on most ,if not all, chopsaws the table is the biggest culprit to inaccuracy. The table deflects and things go to shit in a hurry. I have a Makita chopsaw that's about 20 years old and sturdy as a brich craphouse. I needed the armature rebuilt so I thought I'd just get another like it. Same model number and all is still available. The new one, which I quickly returned, was a POS. THey'd cut out all the under table reinforcements! They took a very good design and to save a few pennies turned it into a junk product. My advise if buying ANY chopsaw is to go with a cast table only .

I use this hor/vert. band saw from jet for most of my stuff http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200323677_200323677 i don't think i paid that much for it, i think I only paid $300 for it from tools r us. Works pretty good for what it is. Fairly quite, cuts pretty accurate as long as you adjust it properly(i set my degrees with a square or protractor) There's other models but I don't know what your buget is. I also use a porta band and a metabo (6inch cut off wheel)
