this sound like a heaven sent to me. no way would you have found a coil at the dunes when it gave out on the sand . Glenn looking after you on this one.
thats just bizare. hmmmm, well quality has suffered in many many rpoducts.
Wanna talk bizarre??? I got the new coil and electrically it checked out identical to the old one. First thought was WTF. Is this new one bad ? Hooked it up and engine roared to life. Testing primary and secondary resistance and for shorts to ground doesn't work on these things. Only way to check is to try a known good coil in it's place. I had read that but couldn't quite believe it till now.
Primary ohm spec is .07 ohms. Almost nothing and my meter set on0.000 range read out as 0.000 on both coils. Secondary read 300 on bad coil and 200 on new coil. With such low resistance spec for primary I guess the windings could short out anywhere and still read in spec yet not be able to saturate coil to fire. At least on an msd ignition you can manually trigger the ignition to test box and coil easily.
