Winging It
« on: November 23, 2012, 10:12:45 PM »
It's time to finish a couple of missing details . Little nose work and a wing. How will this look? Suggestions?

This is what I came up with but I wouldn't say its an improvement. The enclosed front section on dezert buggies looks trick but may also be adding garbage weight.

I think mine would look better without the wing, somehow I've slipped right off the page. Its the body work, with lines like that your finish will add something to the tidy chassis design and it definitely needs something front and back?

I like just the trunk.  The enclosed front makes it look to busy as the panel dose on the back below the wing trunk.  I would keep the trunk.

If I believe I cannot do something it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe that I can, then I acquire the ability to do it , even if I didn't have it at the beginning.

Wing and tie it into where side panels come up. Look like one smooth piece front to rear.  Going out on limb here, fiberglass wing?

The nose has to have just a little bit added but not the full enclosed thing. If you look closely at my pic of after it shows the minor addition.Kind of hard to see. As it is it just abruptly stops. In all honesty I never finished the original design as I had ran out of time and car was functional. LOL!

I was kind of thinking along those lines but don't know if I really like it or not. The wing will only be as wide as the fuel tank and that is in line with the body side panels. Would be pretty easy to do the wing as a separate unit but appearing nearly seamless like I roughed in in the pic below. If that was done it would likely be f/g,otherwise,conventional ally.

I like the last one too where it lays on top of sides a bit too.  And I see the nose job too.  Heres a little paint.  Haveing a little something just makes the buggy look complete, balanced especially with the hood/dash/and side panels already in place.

So hows the other build?

I like that too. I had toyed with that. I was trying to somewhat "hide" the fuel tank tho with the one I posted. The complete and balanced is what I'm trying for ,for sure. Any ideas are quite welcome!

Desert car had to take a break while doing some remodeling of the toterhome. Upgrading some things such as sat TV, doing 18 years of neglected maintenance, and configuring it so I can pull any of the trailers I own with it without having to change anything to do so. None has been simple or easy.  It's nearly all done now however ,as all that is left is mounting the new B&W fifth wheel hitch on it and I'll be back on the desert car in a week month ( eyes ) . Really starting to miss fabbing .

Thanks. No thread on the toter yet other than bitching a bit about the long ,expensive trip home with it.  ;D I'll put some pics up soon as the mods are done on the new trailer also. Toter and trailer are not new but fit my needs perfectly. A few upgrades ,a bit of TLC, and both will be better than new. 1994 Kodiak Dynastar toter and 1996 Dynastar 45 footer with low deck. 35 feet on the floor clear wall to wall and front to back as I'm putting in a raised floor giving me a place to stow tires and extra bulky items out of the way. Then it's back to the wing and finishing the desert car that brought all this about in the first place.

I like the  one carl posted but with a 4" longer side panel to overlap the body panel more, or atleast I think that would look good anyway.
