Title: Brake Bore Options? Which one do I need?
Post by: komelika on July 26, 2015, 03:24:59 PM
I picked up an old Chenowth rail last year and I'm finally ready to get started on it. It needs a new pedal assembly since the Brake pedal/master cylinder is seized up. I'm not sure if I need a 5/8" or a 3/4" bore when I order an assembly. The rail has twin piston disc brakes on the back (assuming they are serviceable) and no brakes on the front. I assume the bigger bore (3/4" and 7/8") is for larger caliper and 4 wheel brake systems, but I've never had to put much thought into ordering one so I want to verify. Thanks!

What pedal ratio? Floor mounts are pretty low ratio and 3/4" should be the one.

Thanks B. I hadn't thought to look into the ratio. It is floor mounted and most options I see in assemblies are 5/8" clutch and 3/4" brake, but I wasn't sure if drum vs. disc brakes mattered in the selection.

prob vw disc conversion brakes so 3/4 would be the better choice on floor mounts

Does anyone have any experience with EMPI pedal assemblies? Much cheaper than CNC and Jamar. I'm probably going to sell this buggy when I finish, but I don't want to put junk in it either.

Truth be know CNC or Jamar most likely built the Empi stuff.  And or it came from the same manufacturers.
