another front end conversion with front bumper
« on: October 01, 2011, 01:09:27 PM »
I converted this rail for a guy in hutchenson kansas and just thought I would post pics. this was a low side chassis and is the most difficult to do but it does look a whole lot better now! what do you think?

yes I added the side bracing back.

rich, this front end is capable of 26" wheel travel but i tell everyone 24" so they don't max everything out and 0 bump. track width is 76" with a 5.5" wide spindle mount rim and 7.60 tires. wheel base is up to the guy installing it since your the ones cutting you frame now if you don't cut down your frame most wind up 3+ " longer but since that cross tube isn't the same on every chassis I'm going to say -3"- + 6" but cutting 1 tube out to get your desired wheel base is the easy!
a 14" stroke shock is preferred for 24" travel but 12" can be used. 12" preferred for 20" but 10" can be used and well you can see the pattern all the way down to 0" travel. this kit reduces weight off a stock beam front end or adds 50 lbs to one with an aluminum beam but steers soooooo much better not to mention all the other benefits that go with it!

just thought i would post this. this is a customer that bought a front end kit and installed it himself and what he had to say. pretty good!

"Brian, I am almost 73 and the wife will turn 75 this year ,  and now she rode with me again, the ride is very good,I just got back from Glamis. she especially liked the way it rode going into and out of the big bowls."
