suzuki swift as a buggy
« on: May 01, 2010, 01:01:25 PM »
l have just come by a suzuki swift, probally caled something else overthere, its a 1300cc twin cam 16v engine that dosent get into the red untill over 8000 rpm,
been driving it round the field  as it is, it sure dose go some, cant get any traction in the first 3 gears but l am still on road tyres,

l am thinking of selling my honda pilot and biulding a replacement using the suzuki  swift engine,  but the first major decision is where to put it front or back ?,  l want a single seater thats just a little bigger than the pilot
l can see benifits in both ideas, the suzuki sj gear box will bolt straight up to the swift engine giving me rear wheel drive, feeding into an sj rear axle that is turned up side down to put the diff on the left, invert the diff to get the drive going the right way again, by pushing the engine and box over to the left it should balance up the driver, it also puts the hot exhaust manifold on the out side away from the drivers feet, centre steer rack and maybe bottom wishbones and hubs of the front of a sidekick to keep the wheel stud patten the same all round, might copy the sidekick rear axle location onto the sj rear axle along with a sammy diff to get the 5.125 gears, clearly l am not going to get a lot of axle travel out of it but over here l think it will be enough,

or we just use the swift engine and box behind the drivers seat pretty much as the pilot is set out  ?

Sketch seems good to me.
"There can be no divided allegiance here.  Any man who says he is an American,
but something else also, isn't an American at all.  We have room for but one
flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is
the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a
loyalty to the American people."
